You can buy a Nova with it in for around £1500 ish.
You could fit it yourself for alot less. There are lots of helpful things on here about fitting the Xe into a Nova.
Easy conversion to be fair,i did mine literally by myself
Engine was £300
My shafts cost £12 (proper bargain)
Pump was £25
V6 brakes cost me £70 including brand new discs and pads
Strengthening kit (optional,not essential)-£70
Mount kit £40.
Oils+fluids £40

Best way you're going to learn about the engine/looking after it/any problems to arise is by doing it yourself (obviously with the help of someone that has done it before or has plenty mechanical know how) paying someone to do it will probably cost a fair whack.
There are plenty of threads in the articles section and plenty of project threads for reference if you get stuck.
Also, depending on how old you are or if you have any claims against you and NCB, insurance can be a killer.

look on pissheads and ebay there is usually a job lot everything thing you need for £400-£500 tad more if comes with some good parts, do the work yourself with a mate or two then you have near on £1000 left.

Seriously if you have a Nova, its wise to learn the mechanics of them... very simple cars too!! As Andy says, get to know local members and most people on here are willing to help out :thumb:

not meaning to hijack the thread but what do people think the cost to let a nova is? using a standard let.
cant really give an accurate answer tbh. engine prices vary, can get brand new or second hand conversion kits etc

will be a project for couple of years due to funds so will probably pick up a mixture of second hand and new i was thinking around £1500 - £2500 all in with suspension and brakes etc
both XE and LET prices also depend on whether you do a rebuild on it.

My advice would be get a insurance quote on the conversions before buying any engine, if you can afford the insurance then budget for about £600 for a xe fitted including parts and labour and about £1500 for the LET including fitting,(these are guestimates) bearing in mind though both sets of engines are now getting old and unless you know the background of said engine then it's a risk.
Tbh your better off buying a full car and selling parts to cover the cost of the parts you need, also you'll beable to hear/see the engine your wanting.
Instead of paying big money for an xe/let conversion, why not spend like 2-300 on a good e/c16se conversion, much easier conversion in terms of nothing needing to be modified or any conversion parts needed, just a little wiring to do and fuel tank and lines.
Perfect 1st conversion to do yourself imo
