I hate the DVLA

Well tried to apply for the log book for the missus SR as we have lost it and I want to get it weighed in and out the way.
Applied for the log book in my name telling them that I had bought the car and didn't recieve a log book. Got the missus to write the letter saying she no longer had the car. Also rang them up to confirm all this and they said there should be no problems.
Today we both get letters (to the same address) both saying the same thing with the seller having to fill in the top half and the new keeper the bottom. Problem is that the are asking when the exact (exact is in bold) date of transfer and now I can't remember when I filled in the application form.
Thought this was supposed to be simple. Just send me a log book you cretins!!!!!

There ****ers Andy, I had a fine for a car I sold 2 years ago saying it was untaxed lol yet had a letter 2 years ago saying "thanks for informing us of new owner blah blah" then another letter the next day telling me I sold it 2 years ago an dont need to pay any further penalties :S

oh we had one for the calibra today saying we hadn't SORN'd it and I already have the confirmation letter.
Can't wait to try and tell them of the colour and engine change on the nova. lol

I drove 40 mile one day to a DVLA office to shout it out in person & tell them the situ with another car I sold. Got a tad to irate when the jobsworth didnt want to know & got thrown out the Shrewsbury office by a bleeding PCSO rent-a-cop :S

You do at city scrap. Every car ive took there they have wanted 1 for and thats easily into the teens

a pain indeed, but can you imagine the amount of dodgy-ness that'd go on if it was all nice and easy with fewer/more basic checks.

Ben, I still had to fork out £25 and still no log book but two contradictory letters, one saying they aren't sending it and the other one saying they are lol

thats ok i got a logbook with the completely wrong car on it but the right reg, when i complained they said its upto me to prove different!

When I changed my vespa engine number it couldnt have been easier just filled in the number with no confirmation letter and it was back a week later with the new engine number.
