Ive read some of you lot have had issues with either the cork or rubber sump gaskets, so which one is generally the better one to use?

And also this ZLET oil pump stuffs, is it the entire pump or just the internal assembly?

And am I right in thinking there are 2 types of oil pick up pipe, one being generally better then the other  or no difference?

Im a C20XE newb so require a little educating prior to engine build :)

the zlet complete pump, and it needs a modified pickup and xe are round and zlet are oval,

8v baffle plate with the rubber on it is the way for the sump

Sound ok, the oil pump sounds a peice of pish fix then :)

Modified pickup; modified in what kinda way Joe? Lengthen/shorten or like change of bend radius or something? (saying this, ill probably have had to modifiy one anyway as Im using a JRE baffled sump :S)

8v baffle plate as in the wandage tray between the sump gasket & block (IIRC? Or gasket & sump, one way or another lol)

There is a thread on mig about the z20let pumps and pickup pipes, iirc they need to be extended by 80mm

and the 8v rubber gaskets are better than the cork ones, some details on that on max boost :thumb:

Use ZLET pick up aswell? Or old skool XE pick up?

in that mig thread I remember people taking about using a 1.7 diesel pickup pipe but I think you can modify the standard zlet one too

xe/let pipes are no good on a zlet pump

Ah right, Ive heard of people using the 17DT pick ups, discounted the idea though as I hear of more not using them lol

Oh right ok, complete ZLET pump with ZLET pick up :) nice one bretherwin.

This is the ZLet pump and modified pickup we fitted to mine a few weeks ago.

Pickup needs lengthening and needs the XE pick up filter thing welding on the end by the looks of it. (I bought it modified as I knew it would work then)

dont forget to bend the tab out on the sump baffle plate!

i cant remember which one lol.

i think, in the above pic its been done, the top right of the baffle, you can see the tab sitting almost flat. thats normally bent up.

I've fitted 3 and now, never had to touch the tabs.

You'll need short bolts if you fit the all in one baffle plate (m6x20)

You can buy the modded pick up pipes but they arn't cheap. Unless you find one 2nd hand like i did.
