running problems on my 1.0 nova

looking for a bit of advice on these old engines, when im driving and it gets too 2500rpm the engine starts too splutter every gear, iv checked the ignition timming and point gap and all seems fine, just need this engine realyable till i get my 1.6 rebuild any help would be great thanks ian
