Had one traded in at my work which is booking quite low, and amongst the sea of new cars we have, this stood out alot.
1994 L reg
3.0 2JZ GE Engine (220bhp)
Manual
100000miles
Import
Took it a run and it goes 'ok'. Obviously its not a race car but does the skids and will be good for 140+
Anyone had any experience with these?

Dog slow. DC2's are quicker. But could be loadsa fun sideways.
Its the interior that puts me off really

I wouldnt say it was 'dog slow'. Took it a run and yeah its not rapid but certainly not slow. Really starts to show that its a 3.0 once you go past 100.
I like the interior personally. Has some wikkid buckets fitted though which would get binned asap.
Thinking a single T4 turbo will be good for 400bhp.......
In all fairness ive not seen one in action. But if your thinking about F/I anyway it doesnt really matter.
With the right mods i think they are stunning cars.
My realistic dream car is a Supra. Want so badly :(

So you say a car youve never even seen, let alone drive is dog slow? Riiiiiiight.
Whats the deal with insuring imports?
Only going from what ive been told by numerous people.

Dude, do it. Good cars. End of.

Pain in the backside lol
Good cars, the only drawback of the N/A is you'll forever want a turbo (and everyone else will think its a turbo too lol) but if you plan to fit one then go for it :d
I hate the interior, its really not Toyota's best even though I see what they were trying to do with it. I also much prefer the standard look to modified ones, but again thats all personal preference. If it works for you, crack on
Oh, FTR, you'll get good support from dealers if you need it. All parts should be available, there's none of this JDM models can't get parts etc.
dog slow is an understatement, my mate came back from offshore thinking he was the boy in bought one in thought checks me lol even the local saxo crew were beating the piece oh scrap,he was so pissed off we it he traded it for a land rover haha

Similar story here. Lets put it this way. He didnt keep it long!
But id still have one anyway. Id rather go sideways than fast.
Either he couldn't drive the Supra or the Saxo's were putting out more power - a 220bhp N/A supra is sub-7 seconds 0-60 whilst a 120bhp Saxo VTS is something over 8 seconds. And the Supra is built more for 100+ speeds, so even over 60 I can't see the Saxo pulling it back. Even power to weight the Supra is ahead.

I hear mk iv's go good round the oval. lol
What year/reg/mark did they do the face lift on Supra's? The early ones are rancid, although I'm sure they have their good points, somewhere.
If we're dogging them can I join in? The JDM models look like someone has p!ssed in the headlights. lol
Wiki it Andrew. :thumb:
I did wiki it, but the amount of info was huge and I couldn't be arsed to read through it lol
a non turbo supra is like a chick without a vagina.. the best part is missing

1997 according to wikipedia, although they all look pretty much the same to me lol
Or you talking from MkIII to MkIV etc?
Same. I have never noticed a MkIV difference. lol
MkV's suck too.

Both really, year and MK. Considering I love Supra's you'd think I'd know something about them lol
I just love the look of them, and for some reason your Cerica kind of reminds me of a Supra.

Supra IS a Celica ;)
I thought that's the name they got in Japan or somewhere, a bit like Nova/Corsa A.
Come on lads.... It has potential.
A mate owns a 3.0v6 he loves it, i drove one a few years ago after wanting one soooo badly and it was **** slow I was soooo gutted until a mates dad took me out in his twin turbo version :D
If its cheap its worth a giggle...

Speaking of which, I was once told Supra owners usually dump the twin turbo setup and usually go for the single turbo set up, or have I remembered that wrong hmmm, I think I remembered it right as I was confused at the time.
Yep, single turbo is common mod. Rexy, its a straight 6 not V6.
Supra came from the Celica, note the badging on this Mk2 Supra

Mk1 Supra was a variant of the Gen2 Celica
Interesting, yet the early ones are still ugly as ****, just like MK1 Nova's.
Frankly if it's booking quite low and you reckon you can make a few quid out of it 6 months down the line if you hate it then do it.

Twin to a massive single then crank up boostage. Same as RX7's & such like.
I think if you stop the comparisons with the turbo ones, you are left with what is a pretty good motor.
220 odd bhp, RWD, Toyota build quality and reliability. No fireball but will still please in everyday driving. Looks are personal preference (but I don't mind them - de-winged, yes please)
Apart from something like 328i BMWs, what other RWD coupes which weigh in at about 1500 kgs and put out around 220bhp in order to provide a better benchmark in terms of performance?
