Got my xe nova back from the garage a week or so ago after having the top end rebuilt
The day I got it back I pointed out to them that there was oil/petrol floating on my water tank which they said must have happened when my cambelt slipped and what not
And then last night outside my house (thankfully) loads of steam came through the bonnet and when I looked under it there entire bay was full of that lovely gunk
Could this have had something to do with the garage putting the headgasket on wrong?
Or what are the other reasons this would happen right after a rebuild

Was the head skimmed?

sounds like they put the gasket on the wrong way round mate, take it off and have a look.

When the head is off just see if the holes in the gasket line up with the one's with the block

If it's a decent gasket it will say OBEN or TOP on the top side.
