Will F16 Fit 02 Vectra

hey my freind is looking a gearbox for his petrol 1.8 02 vectra. aparently its an f17 so i though an f16 would do the trick as f16,18 & 20 all seem to be quite interchangable onto the same engine like the c20xe.

someone said the shaft on the gearbox that slips into the engine is longer on f16 than on an f17.

it all depends if the vectra, has a cable clutch, and/or electric speedo
