I would have thought you'd of need it to be sleeved instead!

sleeved? as in press a tube in to it with a interference fit?

Probably not, it won't torque up properly either

I'd sleeve it too :)

Get a local machine shop to machine the block out to a larger size then turn and drill an insert, press into the block with a locking compound, then tap the thread

naw sod that if i was going to take it out i would just rebuild the other block for piece of mind, its in the car and i am not taking it out. so helicoiling t is. if it works it works if it dont, i will just kick it and rebuild the other block

Just take care when torquing it up, and should be alright. Who knows until you do it lol

a helicoil should be ok.its hardly going to pull out when there is the rest of the engine round it.....

I just hate helicoils TBH, we always make new inserts instead at work

I believe it will work, I guess I would do it properly cos I have access to proper equipment etc and have seen helicoils fail before. We do lot of repair work on CAT engine parts

Southie, yours is a bag of... :p lol
