hi there can anyone help me ive got a redtop in my car and its just started idleing up then down and it wont tick over can anyone help me plz and do thesse have an idle control valve on them
idle control valve gone i would almost certainly say,i have one here,pm me if you want it

would u say that it woz definently the idle control valve as it happened to u before many thanks
unplug it and see if it stays the same

Under the inlet manifold

BUY a haynes...........its a must im not going to disrespect you because its hard if you are a beginner but buy one i would recomend the calibra or cavalier:thumb: (manual that is:p )
Cheers mate so its the silver cyclinder how do you unclip it do you meen literally by the jubilee clips?

Yes buy some carb cleaner or a bucket of petrol and try and refrurb it?
oryt cheers mate will do would able split pipes or anything else cause this?
If you're planning on following Andy's suggestion then there's a 2pin plug on the RH side end of it (not visible on that pic)
ok so just unplug that then jubilee clip yeh?

yup
Unplug it electronically first, if there is no difference then take off jubilee clips, give it a clean and re install it
so unplug the 2 pin conector if the idles the same....
Then do as Mieran says and clean it. Worth checking for split air hoses while you're there tho :)

could it also be maybe a split in 1 of the vacuum pipes
