Dvd to ipod software - Any gen?

Looking at converting a few dvd's to put on my Ipod classic, but not sure what software to use? Apple don't seem to do one as they want you to buy their films, I'm not looking to steal films or software, just want to convert the films I already own? Any gen???

You need a program called AVS video converter, can be found on torrent sites, would post the name but suspect a ban stick poke lol
