hi i am wanting to know what is the best way to protect inner arches and underside of the nova after they have been took down to bare metal. I have herd that shutz is rubbish is thius true and what do people recomend. My plan was to use a zinc rich primer as i find it better than etch first then seam seal all joints with brushable seam sealer and than thats where i stuck what should i use next and where can i get it from. All help appreciated and plus rep will be given Thanks :thumb:

Etch primer bare metal, then use a seam sealant over all the seams. You can then zinc prime over that.
There are few differ sealants out there, 3M make some get ones as do Upol.
Do it in good covering layers.

I found Schultz was pretty good on mine, the tin that gun and compressor, it come out really thick and hardened up nice.

Waxoyl however wasnt good it doesnt go dry, i think thats more for doing the insides of your doors etc..

I wonder if theres anything similar to the GM Rubbery underseal stuff they used.

im just seam sealering the seams and stonechipping the floor as it dries hard then a few layers of hammerite white. Then again not all mine will be to bare metal

Look at resin based primer or paint to go onto bare metal first then 3M stone guard and finally hand paint with 1k gloss.

Edit...
Oops, just realised I bumped a 3 month old trhead lol. Not much activity in this section then eh!
Oh well, reply is still of some use to someone :)

If it's bare metal then a good etch primer then something like hammerite on top, then a proper under sealer. The bodyshop I took my Nova to used Tetra Shutz from a can using an airline and it's special gun which gave a hard thick coating. I then filled the arch lip gap with seam sealer and did the same with anywhere than water can seep under.

^ Dunno about other things but Upol Gravitex reacts with Hammerite.

Hammerite is a bit of a pain TBH and is not overpaintable. Plus it does not like to stick or cover that well IMO.
The Epoxy resin based paints are sh"t hot, I used them on the inside of my roof skin. If you look on the website I posted it explains more about the paint.
