Theese are two old rookie rodds that we was running 4 years ago.

The blue one was my first rod went really well should of just reshelled it rather than ever selling her.

And the red is another good freind of mine. He won pretty much every championship going with this car an is basically what im copying for my new one.

http://i346.photobucket.com/albums/p406/wozza51/carlrookierod.jpg

For some strange reason no matter what i done i always seemed to have the issue of the bonnet lifting... will try and sort this on the new car lol

http://i346.photobucket.com/albums/p406/wozza51/1313741.jpg

Basically all thats left to do is

Skin seat mounts
Cut out cross beam that goes up over tunnel
Skin boot lid
Find some doors and make new hinges as someone cut them off
Weld in roll cageThen the fun starts with the engine and running gear.

New shocks and modified spings all round.

Make new steering column that comes out straight

New seat mount

Ally Dash

Ally feul tank

Battery inside car

Cut off switches for fuel and brake lines

New brakes wheel bearings and ball joints

13x5.5 steel wheels and then the fun and games of getting the tyres.

Ive probably forgotton loadds that ive got left to do but ill worry about that when i come across it.

not something iv been into, but im starting to want to for some reason, is it a fairly easy and cheap hobbie to get into ? not looked into it so it would be new to me.

novahotrod
18-02-11, 09:17 PM
err yeah it can be fairly cheap i mean u can spend as little as 700 on a built car with enough spares to run for a season. Or go slightly more elabourate in the same foemula an build from new.

And then the formula's go up money wise from there but on whatever your budget you will be able to do a formula.

log on to www.spedeworth.co.uk (http://www.spedeworth.co.uk) and www.shortcircuitmag.com (http://www.shortcircuitmag.com) and have a look around and find out a bit more mate.

Another night down the yard tonight. Ended up on it on my own this eve as mate had a few car issues on the way but was quite productive time.

I have decided that the shell is skinned and the seat mounts are staying in as they are a C*** to remove.

So tonight i

Removed all the extra brackets on the bulkhead
Finished Skinning the OSR quater pannel
Removed the rest of the double skin over the tunnel
Removed the floor suppport that runs over the tunnel
Cut out the rear seat hinge
Hit my thumb with a club hammer got pissed off and went homeThe new specialist tools :)

Oh and i found some rust that was filled previously so that will either be plated or maybe just re filled and painted, we shall see how keen i get once the cage is in.

Pics of rot to follow.

Also on the slam pannel there seemed to be some electric bonnet actuator.
Seems as if it has been well looked after at some point before i had it :)

Next the car is off to 1st choice fabrications for the full weld in roll cage while i order suspension and new rear brakes.

Decide on corsa servo and steering rack? and then when it all comes back ill get keen from there.

:) both croydon mate, he's more croydon town centre and i'm more west croydon, yard in south croydon and one in streatham! both don't drive a nova on the road though.. not at the moment anyway!

we both did, i had a 1.2 st mk1 on the road before i raced it a few years ago, he had a 2lt red top mk2 i think and a 2lt red top corsa on the road before they went. then we moved on but both race short oval tracks and both will end up in the same formula once we get his done.

never seen yours about? saying that I saw a SR mustard yellow going up through purley, onto the coulsdon by pass a few months ago i was in a crysler 300c estate i think? wasn't you was it?

Spent a few hours friday playing novas...

Need a Passenger Door but other than that shes now ready ot go off to 1st choice fabrications in the week for the roll cage :)

So when i arrived at the yard i attacked the side of the car and the wings with the flap wheel to remove the sticky stuff from the side strips and the black vynl stuff.

http://i346.photobucket.com/albums/p406/wozza51/byebyevynl.jpg

and then over she went on to its side to start on the floor.

we romoved what running gear was left and the feul tank brackets

http://i346.photobucket.com/albums/p406/wozza51/onside.jpg

http://i346.photobucket.com/albums/p406/wozza51/onside2.jpg

Then decided the sticky bits on the roof needed to go...

http://i346.photobucket.com/albums/p406/wozza51/onroof-1.jpg

http://i346.photobucket.com/albums/p406/wozza51/strippingfloor.jpg

Then the boot was skinned

http://i346.photobucket.com/albums/p406/wozza51/skinnedboot.jpg

and we contemplated wether to repair the drivers door i have....

http://i346.photobucket.com/albums/p406/wozza51/driversdoor.jpg

im still in 2 very different minds...

What do you think??

And does anyone what to donate me a Passenger door?? Or outer skin??

Right so next up the pannels were tied on ready to go to the fabricators and all be welded/fitted to the car around the roll cage etc :)

http://i346.photobucket.com/albums/p406/wozza51/dooron.jpg

http://i346.photobucket.com/albums/p406/wozza51/booton.jpg

http://i346.photobucket.com/albums/p406/wozza51/pannelson.jpg

Also need ideas for colours.. deffinately going black inside and dayglow orange engine bay.... (easy to see dirt damage oil leaks and any rot)

Other than that ive got black bottom of doors like SR and orange top half...

any input from any of you guys?

thought i was the only person in the entire area that drove a nova, and never seen another mustard. if you see my wip, and if it looked like that then it would be the one. i am always going down coulsdon way either on the way to uni or i work at that god forsaken tesco usually on self serve on a saturday. but always around i am!

I had my green mk2 let wen I lived in coulsdon. It was always around. Looked at your wip and must say looks good. But I haven't seen it around. I need to stop coming on this site. Makes me want another road going nova. :( oh I wish I was rich. Lol
