lol

Once again I've bought another corsa  Having sold the black sport 2weeks ago, I had too much money laying around.... Late night ebay'ing got me this.....

Before I show you pictures, This is being broken, I'll keep the engine and whatever else for another shell I'm getting tomorrow (Hopefully lol), The shell will be scrapped since its ****ed.

http://i252.photobucket.com/albums/hh30/AW_06/Green%20Sport/100_5603.jpg
Yep, It really is Nato Tank Green. Rollerd on I should add.

http://i252.photobucket.com/albums/hh30/AW_06/Green%20Sport/100_5611.jpg
Exhaust is staying with me, £130 worth of sportex.

The bit I'm interested in though...
http://i252.photobucket.com/albums/hh30/AW_06/Green%20Sport/100_5604.jpg
Its a good runner though, Gearbox seems ok too, Clutch was apparently done recently and the cambelt too.

Got on with stripping some of it, Needs to be keept moving for the moment though. Quick-release bumper, Held on with cable ties.
http://i252.photobucket.com/albums/hh30/AW_06/Green%20Sport/100_5616.jpg

And finally, the reason it will be scrapped, its been bummed.
http://i252.photobucket.com/albums/hh30/AW_06/Green%20Sport/100_5621.jpg

Nothing really special atm, But even Nova owners have to have a laugh at **** cars now and then. Silver one will be keept, For how long, I don't know. I'd like to get a full year out of it though.

LOL's this way please.

Iain

Southie

Damm you... Silver shell will be turbo'ed....

Already got it all figured out, And plenty of time and money to do it. Just gona be a low boost, Home DIY build :d

Southie - This one I'll strip, weigh in the shell and use the good bits on the shell turning up tomorrow, thanks to a nice chris compton :p

comptoncj
12-02-11, 06:31 PM
Your welcome lol

Southie
12-02-11, 06:35 PM
Only nice bit on a Corsa B is the engine lol

AlexW
12-02-11, 06:38 PM
Deffo on this one, Although the upper inlet has been painted blue and then the paint removed :s, rocker cover has had a bit of polishing too. Not forgetting the poorly removed aircon :s

Anyway, Gonna try my powerbox on it tomorrow before I rip the engine out.

comptoncj
12-02-11, 06:46 PM
Powerbox, turbo, remote oil filter run it at 5 ish psi and you will have a quick little engine. ;)

AlexW
12-02-11, 06:48 PM
Thats the plan, Plus ARP's. See what it takes to make a baby xe go bang (Not much I know!) then drop in my rebuilt engine.

comptoncj
12-02-11, 06:50 PM
lol i dont think it will go bang running low boost on std compression there was a nova on here with a e16se turbo without lowered compression and it worked alright just dont crank the boost up.

Southie
12-02-11, 06:51 PM
Well I'll be watching closely to see how you go about the turbo part, might tempt me into doing mine :)

comptoncj
12-02-11, 06:53 PM

Southie C16XE turbos are amazing just a wee bit torque steery! well worth doing tho IMO mine supprises alot of people.

bmw156
12-02-11, 09:08 PM
you didnt pay to much for it thank god.

will it make much being broke?

AlexW
12-02-11, 09:13 PM
Engine and stuff woulda end up costing me about £200 if I had bought a engine out of a car. Interior and wheels should claw back some money, Plus weighing it in.

Getting the chance to mock up things like my powerbox first helps too, since I'm doing engine bay mods on the silver one.

bmw156
12-02-11, 09:22 PM
if you get 130 for the shell over the bridge. then thats over half way back lol.

Mike
12-02-11, 09:30 PM
And cash in any remaining road tax too, always a bonus. And sell me the pass side airbag cover, I need another one lol

AlexW
12-02-11, 09:32 PM
I don't know what scrap value is like atm but even with all the **** I've got I doubt I'll get lots for it.

No tax :(. Non-airbag one mike, If you don't mind it being silver, Its yours lol

bmw156
12-02-11, 09:40 PM
steel price is high atm, get it scrapped soon

Mike
12-02-11, 09:41 PM
Yeah thats the bit I need, the non airbag, airbag cover lol (if that makes sense?)

Its painted silver?? Bugger :( could do with just a black plastic one TBH

AlexW
12-02-11, 09:44 PM
Martin - I was hoping to have it ready to go by the end of the week, Got too many cars parked over there, Not just mine! lol

Mike - Yeah :( I'll have a look at the box of bits i have. The interior is bad, Lower shelf painted green, mirror covers green, Centre bits silver, airbag cover thing silver, check the pic lol

http://i252.photobucket.com/albums/hh30/AW_06/Green%20Sport/100_5606.jpg

Still, Steering wheel will go on ebay for £20 once I've had enough of it lol

Mike
12-02-11, 09:52 PM

AlexW
13-02-11, 04:44 PM
Started the day stripping greeny, Engine out was the plan, After a compression check and a quick play with powerbox.

Just a bit after I started
http://i252.photobucket.com/albums/hh30/AW_06/Green%20Sport/100_5624.jpg

A bit later
http://i252.photobucket.com/albums/hh30/AW_06/Green%20Sport/100_5626.jpg

Leaving:
http://i252.photobucket.com/albums/hh30/AW_06/Green%20Sport/100_5628.jpg
I will be keeping the pas rack for the silver one.

Powar plant. Need to ditch the A/C compressor and change the engine mount, No biggy :)
http://i252.photobucket.com/albums/hh30/AW_06/Green%20Sport/100_5630.jpg

Finally, as the rain kicked in, Got the interior partly stripped, More of that tomorrow I think.
http://i252.photobucket.com/albums/hh30/AW_06/Green%20Sport/100_5633.jpg

Then Chris and his dad rocked up with this:
http://i252.photobucket.com/albums/hh30/AW_06/Silver%20Sport/100_5634.jpg
http://i252.photobucket.com/albums/hh30/AW_06/Silver%20Sport/100_5635.jpg

Need to get on with cleaning, welding up and painting the engine bay next:
http://i252.photobucket.com/albums/hh30/AW_06/Silver%20Sport/100_5638.jpg
http://i252.photobucket.com/albums/hh30/AW_06/Silver%20Sport/100_5639.jpg

Mike
20-02-11, 05:11 PM
The silver one ending up as a track car kinda thing then?

AlexW
20-02-11, 05:21 PM
Its not going to be full on track car, But deffo slightly track orientated, Will have enough power to make it worthwhile :)

wwmnw
20-02-11, 05:24 PM
I would like to say it looks good, but its not square enough :( lol

You don't hang about.

AlexW
21-02-11, 05:39 PM
Today I got the filler sanded, primed some of it to get a idea of what I'm working with, more small bits of filler applied and its not far off being finished fillerwise.

Assembled some of it yesterday morning in the rain
http://www.corsasport.co.uk/carimages/9737/100_5721.jpg

At 1pm I had the engine sat in front of the corsa, 20mins later it was in place and bolted up, Without a hoist :d

3pm ish I got it started
http://i252.photobucket.com/albums/hh30/AW_06/Silver%20Sport/100_5730.jpg

Cheers dudes, I admit I had help yesterday, But keep working quick as I want it done asap to get some use out of it before the MOT runs out etc.

I'll have another update later today I think.

Connor
27-02-11, 03:26 PM
See i work quicker when on my own, as if i got mates helping it just ends up with us funking about and either something broken or someone gets hurt or both usually lol. Last time (not working on my car) my mate thought it would be funny to put exhaust past in my mates hair, he couldnt get it out so he shaved all his hair off lol

AlexW
27-02-11, 04:57 PM
lol We started in the rain so at the start it was just a rush to get it sorted. Then a rush to get it running before he left at half 3 lol

So today got more of it together:
http://www.corsasport.co.uk/carimages/9737/100_5733.JPG

http://www.corsasport.co.uk/carimages/9737/100_5737.jpg

02-03-11, 12:49 PM

AlexW
02-03-11, 12:57 PM
Yep I know, I'm going to paint it once I've had it on the road a bit, Same time I change the sump gasket. Only a temp thing until I've collected all the turbo stuff.

tonytoc11
02-03-11, 05:03 PM
How did you put it in without a hoist? Have you any pic os the engine with the aircon compressor and pas removed and the new bracket on?

AlexW
02-03-11, 05:06 PM
Same way I always do, Engine up on a jack, on its side, Lift the car with another jack, push engine under, then roll it up so the sump is on the jack head, lower the car, lift the engine into the right place, just takes a bit of side to side pushing of the jack/car. Done it enough now lol

See my reply in the fitting guide/thread about the mount or whatever.

AlexW
02-03-11, 06:17 PM
Got the bay back together today, Although I've got to take some of it apart to change the ICV

http://www.corsasport.co.uk/carimages/9737/100_5765.JPG

06-03-11, 09:52 AM

Thats better:p

AlexW
06-03-11, 10:49 AM
Lower the car? Do it properly and raise the engine lol just watch your toes.

Tis looking good.

Doing both saves effort, **** trying to fit the engine when the shell is up high lol

Spud, Whats a Nova?

wwmnw
06-03-11, 04:44 PM
Doing both saves effort, **** trying to fit the engine when the shell is up high lol

Spud, Whats a Nova?

Fair point, quick and easy FTW, by the way, a Nova is a small, cramped crap Spanish built car favoured by charvas and social rejects with gutless engines as standard, sending power to the wrong wheels :(

The fact so many people have restored them and put bigger engines in and sent the power to the right wheels is proof of how crap they are in standard form lol

AlexW
06-03-11, 07:29 PM
^ HMMM They sound sh!t.

Got interior cleared out and hopverd. Although Since this pic I've refitted all of the drivers side of the dash.
http://www.corsasport.co.uk/carimages/9737/100_5792.JPG

Refitted all the scuttle/wipers etc, Need to cut a hole to fill the washer bottle though lol
http://www.corsasport.co.uk/carimages/9737/100_5793.JPG

Moved it
http://www.corsasport.co.uk/carimages/9737/100_5800.JPG
http://www.corsasport.co.uk/carimages/9737/100_5799.JPG
Brakes suck lol, Need to bleed them.

And Finally, A reflection shot... Shiney Silver.
http://www.corsasport.co.uk/carimages/9737/100_5796.JPG

Now the jobs list is just the arch trim etc stuff, brake bleed and do something about the backbox hangers, then it will hit the road, Should be this week.

Might change the rear lights to my MHW's, Can't find anything to clean the sump so that idea has been scrapped lol

AlexW
10-03-11, 04:38 PM
Arch trims turned up, So arch liners in, Grill on, Bumper on.
http://www.corsasport.co.uk/carimages/9737/100_5811.JPG
http://www.corsasport.co.uk/carimages/9737/100_5822.JPG

MHW's fitted..

'Bay
http://www.corsasport.co.uk/carimages/9737/101_5827.jpg

Taxed it last night, Just gotta sort the insurance now ;)

AlexW
19-03-11, 07:12 PM
So yesterday I got this insured, First drive this morning, Has been good apart from having to get the tracking setup due to it trying to launch me into a hedge.

Racked up some good miles, Its really loud but its nice having power again.

http://www.corsasport.co.uk/carimages/9737/101_5875.jpg
http://www.corsasport.co.uk/carimages/9737/101_5876.jpg

But tonight I took it out and had to limp home in 3rd, Gear linkage wasn't done tight enough :tard:

That'll be a job for tomorrow then lol

AlexW
29-03-11, 12:02 AM
Lowered the rear more (-60 Now).. These pics aren't the best though.
http://www.corsasport.co.uk/carimages/9737/101_5899.JPG

Also fitted Depos...
http://www.corsasport.co.uk/carimages/9737/101_5902.JPG

Black headlining...
http://i252.photobucket.com/albums/hh30/AW_06/101_5913.jpg

Now trying to decide what to do, Part of me is tempted to give up my plans and sell it.

Right I broke this over the last week, Noticed the water pump leaking, Keept and eye on it and the coolant level, Then thursday (I think), It over heated, Was hoping it was just water pump, Well today I got it all stripped...

Got the 'pump out and... Its perfect :(, Turns nicely etc, Bugger.
http://www.corsasport.co.uk/carimages/9737/101_5937.jpg

And the stripped bay.. Stripped for more than one reason..

Just changing the bare thing for another as its missing the bit of plastic that holds the standard plug so its been causing some issues.

Got a load of other jobs to do on it while its off the road again, So Yes, I've been driving the 12v again, Omg its slow lol

Until next time...

Edd

Head
http://www.corsasport.co.uk/carimages/9737/101_5947.JPG

Turns out it was going between 1 and 2, and gone between 3 and 4, a slight leak between a oil and water way, plus the gasket fell apart. Lovely.

I'll get it skimmed sometime soon, plus do the stem seals, and lap the valves in.

Expensive month, thats what happens to a baby xe thats done 120k lol

AlexW
16-04-11, 09:09 PM

Cheers dude, I at first thought I was going to have to do stuff again as I thought it might be too much silver, But other than wishing the block was a different colour, I'm really happy with how its come out.

Cheers dude, And no pics of the head rebuild as I got my mate to do it lol Nothing different to the normal anyway, Skim, valve lapping, bit of a clean in the ports, everything cleaned, new stem seals and everything assembled.

Why did you change the headlights exhaust and rideheight for the MOT?

AlexW
30-05-11, 07:04 PM
Headlights were fitted to the 12v, I always swap them depending on which is on the road and being used lol

Exhaust I fitted a cat for the mot (Used to run a decat with the sportex), Was waiting for a adapter, clamps and rubbers They didn't turn up until friday. Height was due to the springs being loose as per most cheapo 60s on std shocks.

AlexW
21-06-11, 08:48 PM

Awaiting more track pics....

On the way up I got the first pic of the car on four speedlines..
http://i252.photobucket.com/albums/hh30/AW_06/TVL%2030%207%2011/100_6386.jpg

Now after covering nearly 700 miles since friday last week, Its looking a mess
http://i252.photobucket.com/albums/hh30/AW_06/100_6419.jpg

Plans now are very very short. Come the end of the month, speedlines and few other bits are coming off and its going up for sale.

I'll miss it as its not quick but its fast enough, cheap enough and handles ****ing well.

Fairwell.

06-08-11, 01:53 PM
looking good mate, ive 2 white speedlines on mine and i think it looks sh1te but then they look quite good on yours. wish mine was as low lol

ryansnova
06-08-11, 11:22 PM
how low is the corsa mate? :)

AlexW
07-08-11, 02:09 PM
Not a easy answer tbh, I've never actually measured it, Front is around 70mm and the rear depends on what you believe, It was roughly measured at 70 but it sits lower than a mates corsa with 90mm rear springs.

AlexW
07-08-11, 02:23 PM
Now I've got some time again I've spent this morning giving the corsa a full clean again, It hasnt had a proper clean etc for a month of two.

Washed it, Removed the flys stuck to the front, Clayed, Polished and waxed, Plus blacked the plastics, Cleaned the glass and sealed the speedlines.

Then took it out for some pics...

Fitted a 1.6 to this a while ago, Back on the road after a month off, Didn't do anything to it lol

However over the weekend I fitted some skirts and new plates...

Connor
10-10-11, 07:29 PM

AlexW
29-10-11, 12:39 PM
Few Small updates....

I err lowered it a bit on the back...
http://i252.photobucket.com/albums/hh30/AW_06/100_6616.jpg

But No I didn't ruin my car by lowering it that far, It was just on gaz wound right down to see how low it would go, It has been raised back up to a decent level.

Received a quite important part for my future plans, Car is going to come off the road in 2/3 weeks and I can hopefully bash everything on in a week or two.
http://i252.photobucket.com/albums/hh30/AW_06/AWMotorsportz/100_6618.jpg

Plan is to build it to iron out any issues and get everything mocked up, Then strip it in jan to powdercoat lots of stuff, Tidy up the underside, respray the bay, completely rebuild the engine etc, Management, In time for PVS and a run down the strip.

Cant wait

Connor
29-10-11, 06:03 PM
What turbo and management you using bud out of interest?

AlexW
29-10-11, 06:45 PM
Corsa VXR as pictured as its ideal for the 16v's. Management I'm undecided on, Poss Emerald.

Balley
29-10-11, 06:46 PM
Very interesting, What are you doing about compression?

AlexW
29-10-11, 06:47 PM
I'm going for the very low boost for decent power. Compression will stay the same on this first test build. In jan with the engine rebuild I plan to spec some slightly lower compression pistons.

Calamity Josh
