Are the 1.4 sr shafts the same?

any Nova shafts will fit fine. The 1.6/1.4 MPi and diesel shafts are actually different to the rest but so are the inner CVs so they have the same 'fitting' in the gearbox :thumb:
soooooo you want a 1.6 bottom end with a 1.4 carb crappy head.... Is the 1.6 head un useable?

I'm with Stu on this. The 1.4 head is awful, plus it has a small chamber, which will give you stupid detonatious explosiveness. Just don't do it.
There must have been a dozen threads like this on this forum over the past couple of months.

It will raise the compression up but the engine will not breath as well as it would with the standard head. You can pick up a 16se head for £30-£50 i wouldnt bother with a 14nv.

Well after a good day of work it fired up first time, loads of bottom end but you can tell its trying to breath more from the sound of the carb @5000 rpm:thumb: Need a 1.6 head. But what can i do about the carb can i buy a bigger jet?

given its a budget build a std 1.6 MPI engine would have been a couple of quid and then done. Carbs on some hybrid engine build = lots more cash and ultimately less happy :(
