what is the porous head mod that people do? im sure i remember someone saying something about 8mm aluminium bar cut to 87mm (i think)

just wondering as i have a load of 8mm aluminium bar ive stashed at work

yep thats it did it last week, was terribly good fun! Drilled out the old bung as it was good and stuck, saved the original threads. then tapped in a new one, got stuck half way through so i only had it half done but it covered up where the crack forms so its all good really. but worth a shot if you want to give it a go!

they have to be threaded? i was thinking about making some up...but i dont know what they need to be like

I see one lad use copper pipe. Never threaded it tho, more compression fit.

think the oilway is 7.9mm diameter so use a 8mm od tube or get a 7.95mm tube made and knock/press it in carefully.

i do the mod externally where block the centre oilway with tapered alloy pins and machine the end of the head and fit a braided line, dearer but found much more of a permanant fix
