View Full Version : Re-shelling a customers rally car.....

Hi peeps, haven't posted on here for a long time!! Thought I would start a thread on a reshell we are doing at the moment on a customers Nova.

The shell has had some proper trick mod's done to it and has had some of my suspension pick up point mod's ;) . This includes raising the front top mounts 1.5" and major surgery in the rear quarters.... Check out the photo's so far. This should make a massive difference on bumpy Irish lane events and when we go to the smooth fast belgian events we can get it really low and still maintain standard suspension travel lengths.

The shell is in the bodyshop at the moment on my spit being painted. Hoping to get some pics of that over the weekend.

Enjoy.....

What looks like rust is actually mainly dust from all the grinding and welding that was going on. Start to finish this has taken 5 months in between other things in work.

The shell is in the bodyshop as we speak, the entire shell has been flatted and etch primered and is then being sealed and painted...

Hopefully start re-building it in the next two weeks or so. It is having 210bhp 1600 16v Bowyer engine (If we ever get it back.... "Be ready friday mate") on an F20 Quaife with grp A shafts and Focus WRC brembo brakes.

The re-build cost is a lot of money obviously. If the remainder of this year goes well and the car has a couple of results the owner is already talking about a 6speed Sadev sequential gearbox for next year!!

This is or was very common in ralycross nova's. I am not over impressed with doing it to the front end tbh as it causes too many knock on effects, but the back end is a massive improvement over std... It is a lot of work!!

Really like the build and love the bonnet stay. A rally car project is not complete if it doesn't have a brush propping the bonnet open!

Rust is like cancer to a car (very bad)
I was just saying that if covered in built hamber or similar it saves time and moneys when it comes to being preped for paint, I'm not stupid I know its not going to be left to rot.
