hello

just purchased my nova rally car, the engine is a 1600 gsi with 1200 head and running 40s, now im going to fit a high lift cam and have been told to replace the 1200 head with a standard 1600 as it wont run right.?

the car will be getting some abuse, however im going more for reliability, rallying whilst Being an apprentice is hard on the wallet!

also, what ever head i keep/replace any suggestions on any head work that is worthwhile or just keep standard.

a big factor may be i only have a standard f13 in the motor just now, only doing 3 rallys this year to get going, new gear box over winter so would rather have engine done now so i can tweek over the coming months for next year!

thanks in advance!

The 1600 MPi is better flowing as standard (bigger rounder ports and bigger valves) so I would fit one but you would need to change the inlet manifold

I assume you have a 1200 head to use the cam-driven dizzy...?! Just swap the cam carrier and dizzy over to the MPi head

i would guess the 1.2 head was used to up the compression ratio, in this case use the 1400sri head, will raise the compression over the 1600 head and yet has the same ports and valves as a 1600 head
