Not good so close to season start!:( What were Renault thinking letting him do it!

Although he should know better watching the rallying to know that it usually ends up in disaster unless youre Seb Loeb.

Wasn't it 3 miles into the stage?

"The crash is reported to have taken place 4.6km into the stage. Kubica's car, a Skoda Fabia, left the road and collided with the wall of a church."

Doesnt matter where it was, that looks like his F1 season is fooked. Shame really as Renault was looking good in testing!

Conflicting reports then.

ANSA, the Italian news agency, said the 26-year-old Pole was heading to the start of the rally near Genoa in a Skoda Fabia when the car went off the road and hit a wall.

Sky also reports the same.
"The 26-year-old Pole was heading to the start of the Ronde di Andora rally near Genoa when his Skoda Fabia car went off the road at high speed and hit a wall."

Not good. Kubica is a talent. Will be a shame if the worst happens. Wonder if this will cause a knee jerk reaction, seeing teams banning drivers from pre season jollys?

Teams usually do stop their race drivers doing things like this just before the season starts because it makes all their hard work and millions of pounds of development go down the pan in one swift crash!!:(

"After extensive medical checks, Robert has been diagnosed with multiple fractures to his right arm, leg and hand. He is undergoing surgery."

look at the car pics again folks.

there was a section of armco barrier that came up thru the front of the shell, and clobbered kubica. if he makes a full 100% recovery, it will be a bloody miracle...

the renault f1 boss actually tried to make out robert would be fit in a couple of months..... i'm guessing they are still trying to snap up some sponsors..

i bet villeneuve has already been on the phone to enstone....i'm hoping hulkenberg gets the nod as a stand in

That looks painful!

Huge shame for F1 imo, he always brought up a surprise in races and was fun to watch.

Taken from Autosports website. HERE (http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/89341)

Robert Kubica will undergo further surgery this week as he continues to make progress following his accident. His Renault team said in another update on Tuesday that the Pole is expected to undergo some more surgery in order to stabilise the fractures to his right shoulder and right foot on Thursday.
Three or four days later, another operation will allow his elbow fracture to be stabilised as well.

He partly severed his right hand, had a 7 hour emergency operation yesterday to save his hand and as above has plenty more planned.

IMO there's very little chance he'll drive a F1 car in anger this season.

Could have been alot worse.
