well thats the k reg nova all stripped now. Only took off what i was using. Managed to get tank, top tint, black dash, gsi steering wheel. Think theres a boy coming to buy it tomorrow. If all goes to plan i should hopefully have some new wheels for the sr. Also had a job interview today which went well. So fingers crossed i can start earning again. :) might have some pics later
was up to see the sr today, my mate had been up for a few hours and got some work done on it for me :) lower valance welded, other wee patch on slam panel and passenger strut top plate. ill be nipping up during the week to get the bay wire wheeled down to bare metal. should have some new wheels for this in the next couple of weeks and getting a 1.6 8v dropped off on saturday for it.

small update, started painting bits up, ARBs, steering rack, brake servo, back axle, started stripping hubs down to paint them but one got 2 wheelbolts snapped in it :(. Also got the slam panel, rear panel and front valance into etch primer. Was also at it tonight and got some more welding done but ran out of wire. :(Seam sealed welds on rear panel, rolled back archs for clearance with the speedlines. Good news underneath has all been undersealed pretty well so just going to stonchip over it white then hammerite white over that.

And whats the decision on colour scheme, white ?
not to sure yet. Colour scheme, will be staying white, white colour coded gsi bumpers, grey skirts and window surrounds. Thinking about the vinyal on the boot but undecided yet and red calipers and red bumper tape :)
well fired up today and got more done. Engine bay all welded now and primed :D. Stonchipped front inner archs, ready for white hammerite now, also got rear axle painted black, painted and fitted my 60 rear springs. Well happy with progress so far. Will upload pics once i find the cable :(
Speedlines look better with no centres!

Aye grind them off and get your mate to weld something on stronger this time then grind it down and put a skim of filler over all your welds to tidy it up and youll propably not even notice it mate.
Or if they are strong enough just grind them down and skim them over, just it will look rough and ruin it when its painted.
I suppose the one on the passengers side wont matter aslong as its strong because you wont see it when the header bottle is fitted
lol lol aye thats off my 1st burgandy one lol

was busy yesterday helping tam strip the calibra but before i could i fitted the 100mm rear springs to the nova and got the front wheels back on - didnt go as planned.
fitted the rear springs then lowered car down (no shocks fitted) its on level ground and no handbrake on and the passenger side is sitting about -100 but drivers side sitting -70 anyone got any ideas why?
we also raped a c20xe calibra of parts hes using the "valver" for his classic mini project - see for sale section for parts off it for sale.
i got some headlight washers off it for the nova and some heated seat switchs for my centre console

Looks good, nice and low matey, keep at the engine bay, just apply a small amount of filler at a time as smooth as you can because the more there is the harder it is to smooth off and it will put you off real quick.

http://i249.photobucket.com/albums/gg228/moffat_photos/nova%20project/Photo078.jpg
cheers to spud for sorting out the thread title lol. well progress has been slow atm, lack of motivation and funds. had a change of plan for the interior so the gsi seats are now getting sold on. found others that i think will be more in keeping of the theme im trying to achive.
so got the engine plans in place now;
spi manifold and t2 flange
t2 turbo
spacer plate
oil feed and return
sump modified
intercooler
pipework
downpipe
rising rate fuel regulator
oil filter relocation kit
also does anyone know the best place to get e16se engine rebuild parts from? and can a 1.2 altinator be used as ive got a couple of spares lying about? and think ive sourced an inlet, AFM, ECU and loom of lewi. still to get either a f13 or f15 gearbox, 22spline shafts and a gearbox mount. managed to source a drivers side engine mount from vaughan. so getting there slowley.
still to finish repairing the rear archs on the shell, ma mates been busy as hes not long become a dad so thats taken up most of his free time. but once its welded i can get it home and crack on with finishing smoothing the bay and preping for a respray in glacier white. as everyone knows its hard to build a car to such a high standard on a low budget so just doing bits if and when i can.

looking good mate
a T3:eek: i feel thats a bit much mate, the fueling is going to far to much on idle and off boost in order to run propper on boost, most fords run about 8:5.1 CR with a T3 with propper low comp bottom ends, IMO it will be fun but the engine wouldnt last long.
Cheers for the cle and ryan
Bazil should be fine on low boost with correct size spacer plate. Was a wip on here with a 1.4 getting built with a t3.

did it get finished?
all i'll say mate is get advice from a DECENT turbo engine bulider not a pal or mate who throws spanners about,
running a T3 will also throw in questions about your ignition timing, is you cant get it to change while on/off boost then detonation will be a issue to overcome aswell
Few folk have said a t3 be fine, one came up for sale on a local forum. I thought if kept on low boost itd be ok. Still not fully clued up about the turbo conversion. Original plan was t2 but seems finding one a little tricky. Still plenty time to get everything.

09-05-11, 06:44 PM
Whats the T3 off ?lol
the problem running a T3 will be getting to run proper on the 1.6, i can be done yes but not on a small budget, im going T25 with low comp pistons and DTA management, ive spoke to unaversal turbos and many others about what unit to use and all agreed that a T3 would not be worth installing unless it was for track use only, on the road it would not be a usable engine for eveyday use,
even the courtney manifold wouldnt handle a T3 ive been told.
im not trying to spoil your build but instead make you think about what you need not what sound good,
oh and my brother old rst ran at 20psi on a T3, around 240 bhp epic fast car but was a proper built engine.
craig green told me that courtney recommended no more than 11-12 psi on his engine and iirc he ran around 7 psi
Whats the T3 off ?lol
2.0 ford cosworth ran them iirc
Whats the T3 off ?lol
Escort rs turbo
ryansnova
09-05-11, 07:04 PM
a cosworth piston does not have that much of a drop on it though ?lol
Right looks like we got confused there, the turbo i was looking at was off a standard escort rs turbo.
ryansnova
09-05-11, 07:09 PM
Aww lol lol
Was wondering wat you meant lol.
I was talking about T3 with AR .42/48
The rst shares the same compressor but smaller turbine .36 or close to that,
think mine is comp AR.48 can remember turbine AR
I hope it's a water cooled one and not the earlier oil cooled your getting, also mind and check the shaft, any side to side movement then walk away also if the cars intercooler is there check to see if it has any oil deposits in it,
moffat, fiesta turbos runs T2s if that helps you source one. and most of the people i know who have had the fiesta engines upgraded to T3s off the escorts. so surely there must be T2s for sale somewhere if they're all going T3?
i'm not going to pretend i know anything about wat turbo to choose just might be easier to find a t2 if you know what kinds of cars they came on.
Cheers bazil.
Yeah i know the fiestas run t2's also r5 gtt uses them to iirc. Seen a few on ebay but would rather see the turbo before i buy it. The t3 off the rst is only 5mins away so will be able to see it before buying.
Look on both compressor and turbine housings for A/R then a number
the comp should be like A/R .42 this gives you the info you need to know how the turbo will behave.
got a text yesterday saying it was sold anyway so ill just look for a t2 or t25. going try my dads work when im down.

hoping to get the rear archs done tomorrow if weather permits.
was busy today cleaning out garage and reckon ill fit nova in when it comes home, removed the manual window winders out the doors earlier but noticed my passenger door had gone along the bottom so will be looking for a replacment, bit of poking with a screwdriver revealed loads of filler along the bottom of the actual door skin. :( :(
no much to update atm but not alot happened at the weekend there, was meant to have archs done.... so decided to go collect nova on saturday and get it home :) also considering buying a welder and learning to weld so i can do it myself instead of relaying on others
also sourced a glacier white passenger door :thumb:

Will have pics at weekend when cars home. Was going replace them but if its repaired good then should be good.
small update,
went up to my mates house this morning, fitted rear springs, tightened the bottom arms, tie bars, then fitted the steering rack and a steering wheel. the drivers rear arch has been welded aswell. so my dads pal arrived with a wee dolly thing were the front wheels go into and the dolly which attaches via a towbar. he towed the nova to my house whilst my dad brought the engine down in a trailer so thats everything at mine now. :d
so home, decided to clean the inside out of the nova, cleaned it all out, then decided as i want it in the garage soon i went and fitted the interior so there was space in garage for the car. dug out a few other bits to make space in the shed for stuff that arrived inside the car.
have to say, the courtenay seats and black trim look really good
