Help needed - urgent !!

Hi all,

I have just got back from being recovered from a breakdown - the vectra has thrown its belt (I suspect one of the idlers or tensioner has failed) and I suspect that as I was doing 60mph ish when it happened all the valves will be mashed.

Anyone out there that can sell me a set of valves or a full head ASAP for a C20XE engine as I need to get the car back on the road pronto !

Any assistance most welcome!

I was thinking if they are a tenner each and all 16 have gone thats £160 :eek:

Been offered a full head from Colin Smith for less than half that but will need to go on a 3 hour journey into deepest darkest Lincolnshire for that ! lol

I will bear in mind if I get really desparate !

I bought one inlet valve off ebay not long ago for about a fiver IIRC.

If it's mashed them badly there may be a chance of valve guide damage tho? So new head is probably a better idea.

Think my Mahle valves were about a fiver from Autovaux tho if you go down that route

You may have been able, I'm 12 miles further up the road and its quicker going round Beverley and Willerby and then over the Humber Bridge than down into Hull down Holderness Road, cutting onto Hedon Road and out of Hull on the Clive Sullivan.

Mapquest says it will take 1hr 39m from my house and its 73.3 miles one way. I love the roads in Lincolnshire - they are so fun to travel on at 38 mph on stuck behind a truck !

Thanks for all the offers and advice - been able to get a A1 condition head off Colin Smith who did me a good deal !

Picked the replacement head up Saturday after work - head will be fitted in the morning . I did a good job on the old head - all 16 valves were bent !

There had been an oil leak from the camshaft seals which had leaked onto the belt making it soft over a period of time. Eventually the blocks gave way and it slipped a large number of teeth and the rest as they say is history.

Due to having to work Saturday I have had to give it to a local garage whom I trust - should be ready to pick up tomorrow .

I will not be sorry to see the Rover 25 courtesy car go - Longbridge's finest - pah !
