Thinking of engine change?

Right been having a good old think for the past few weeks on selling my let engine,but what for as everyone,was thinking a c18xe,but don't know what there tuning is like Ie money,want around 180 or 200 bhp,also what gearbox does everyone use on them,just thinking of weight,don't really fancy a redtop, had one before,had good fun with it,just want something different

Would make sense to keep the turbo considering you want 200bhp

It's running over 300 brake,just fancy a change plus something less weighty

sell the let and all asosiated gear circula 1500 quid (or more dependant on spec ect)

fresh rebuild
decent pistons headwork cams bodies manifold managment
whola

150 - 200bhp
no extra weight
drops in on standard mounts usable N/A power
better looking bay (imho)
not as common
and loads of fun to be had track or road

after having had a standard spec x16xe in my green nova thats the way i would go it just made it so much more fun to drive than my blue let
still handled exactly as it did with a 1.4 8v (on rails) but had a masive amount of power in comparison and the induction note was georgeous
just my opinion otheres will differ
but if you ask me its the way i would go because if you sell your let and assosiated bits you should be able to cover the build without putting your hand in your pocket

That's what I was thinking ste,it's got uprated piston don't know them off the top I'd my head,head has been polished and ported,got nortech manifold with a gt2860rs turbo,custom inlet,xe inlet cam,mbe management,arp bolts,f28 with quaife diff,so should get a few quid back on that,so how much does it cost to get to that spec 200bhp then

I have a z18xe in my astra coupe and I think it nippy for a big heavy car so in a nova it would be fast.

You'll have to use the x18xe1 though, same as my engine but without flyby and 10 less bhp

Can pick up a ready built engine with jenvy's managment etc for around £800-1200 which is muche cheaper than ourcing the bits, then strip it down and give it a rebuild, then spend the money left over on a Diff for the F15!
