Does anyone know how to copy something that's stored on sky+ on to a disc/memory stick?

We have an interview saved that Sturge needs to copy for someone at work.

fankoo in advance...:)

You'll need to remove the HDD from the Sky+ box and plug it in to your PC.
If you have a desktop should be no trouble. If you do not you'll need to buy a USB disk caddy.

Once you've got the disk out you'll need to convert the files to something more usable. As Sky+ records them in a format called XFS.... nothing else uses this format!

The USB sockets on Sky+ box are not connected to anything. They do nothing. There is no way to get files straight off the hard drive. (because it may infringe copyrights!)

To get stuff off the drive you must remove it from the box and plug it in to a computer.

The 'stuff' is recorded in an unusual format.... you'll need to convert it to do anything useful with it.

AND.... whilst the drive is out, you could upgrade it to a far bigger one. We have a 500Gig drive in ours now... never got to the end of it!

OR.... (sorry, forgot the 'simples' solution.... here's me just goin straight for the technical! http://www.yorkshirecruise.com/Forum/images/smiles/icon_redface.gif)

If you've got a DVD recorder, just plug that in to the SCART socket on the rear of the sky+ box and copy it!.....
1) press play on Sky+ remote
2) press record on dvd recorder

Another way you could do this is purchase a pc capture card or even something like this >LINK (http://mobile.maplin.co.uk/module.aspx?moduleno=506680&tabid=1&criteria=usb&c=so&u=strat15)<

Balance the sky box on your head. By the power of osmosis, the recordings will filter down into your brain.
