Hi. I need to change the alt on my c20xe in my nova. The alt I need to change is a 70amp alt. I have a spare 55amp alt from a nova GTE, does anyone now if this will work or has anyone used a 55amp alt on a c20xe before? Thanks.

My 40 (IIRC) amp 1.0 alternator has worked on a c20xe with no issues.

They pull no more current when running then any other injection engine, its just starting them that needs a heavy battery.

Obviously if doing lots of short journeys (1 mile etc to work) then I would say 70amp needed.

If it will be running for no less then 10 mins every use, then 40 upwards.

Thank you, thats very helpful, put my mind at ease abit about using it. They are not the easiest of things to change in a nova, as I've found out once before, not much space down the back of the engine.

Thank you for the offer. If I get stuck I will give you a shout. When using a none big block alt on a c20xe has anyone had issues getting the pulleys to line up?

I have had issues with 2l 8v, 16v, and smallblock stuff.

Can't remember though.

And I spotted you last september, driving like a hooligan out of demon tweeks, I was in a red mk2 astra GTE c20let.

I've found when using a none big block alt I have had to mod the alt bracket. Me driving like a hooligan no :) Couple of mates work there, car was looking a bit dirty that day.
