Then just use the standard pattern I believe...
10 3 1 5 7
..8 6 2 4 9
Sumat like that anyway lol

That's not the pattern I have.
Start with one in the middle, then from there go across the head, and work in a spiral pattern
8 4 1 5 9
7 3 2 6 10
The Haynes book (and other manuals) says 18lb, 60deg, 60deg, 30deg, warm, 30deg.
I had a Vauxhall workshop note that said: 18lb, 60, 60, 60. Done.
On my race engines, I've always used the latter method, and never had a gasket fail.

The later method is in the later haynes manuals as well, it was a change Vauxhall made after a few HG failures I have heard.

Thanks guys :) will give all rep now :)
Next question.
The engine is a race engine and will be rev'd hard for quite long periods of time. Is it worth my buying uprated head bolts? I have never had problem with standard bolts on my old engine but this one has cost a little bit more to build.
Would prefer not to need them as need car finished asap and I'm skint :(

i would be more inclined to buy ARP bigend bolts :)

I use(d) Ilmor bolts. Not sure if they are still available, but they were the mutts nuts.
arp do a stud and nut kit, but they are about £100 a set.
