View Full Version : 20XE EML for GSi clocks
Can someone just confirm the colours I need to join together for this please?
Early 20XE loom (with the multiplug in the bay) and using GSi clocks.
After a bit of digging it appears to be:
Brown/yellow is the 1.2 carb loom choke light that'll light up the ECU light on a GSi dash
Brown/blue is the XE EML light wire - where will I find this on the XE loom though?
on the main engine loom plug, the male part
D'oh I didn't extend that in to the car cos I didn't know what it was at the time, nice one
I had to run a fresh wire from the plug in the bay all the way to the clocks via where the car loom goes in
I don't have a brown/blue on the main engine loom plug but I do have a small green 4 pin plug shortly after it enters the cabin that contains brown/blue, brown/white etc. Assume I use that one?
Also do you know where the choke light wire goes off to? (does it work off the choke control or does it go to the engine bay?)

Yes thats is then.
Choke light wire,i cant remember,il go see
cant see without removing dash sorry
It doesnt go into the bay though
Nice one for that I'll try and unwrap my loom and trace it back then.
Found it dangling with a brown near where the choke handle is. Connected it up to the brown/blue on that multiplug and it didn't show on the dash when I turned the ign on?
Iain you wont have a bulb in the choke light on the dash just connect it straight to the brown/blue on the plug that goes into the back of the clocks mate.
I connected the XE loom brown/blue to the end of the brown/yellow that goes to the clocks (it's a 1.2 carb loom) - assume the choke and EML light wiring on the povo/GSi dials are shared?

Ah not sure mate give me two ill have a loom at a set of clocks ive got here.........
Everyone's so helpful tonight! Thanks :)
Right the choke light is separate mate so the bulb wont be in if the dash is from a gsi put the bulb from the ecu slot into the next one on the right looking from the back of the dash and connect the blue brown to brown yellow should give you the light.
So that'll light up which bulb on the dash?
There is no choke light on GSi dials tho?
Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh confused lol

There should be mine has one????
There should be a track to the bulb holder on the dash but the bulb wont be there.
Got me confused now lol.
Ok I'll try what you said tomorrow then nice one for your help
What colour do I need to connect it to to get the GSi dials EML light to come on then?

not quite sure on that one iain give me two al try find out for you.
Cool no worries thanks anyway. Figured GSi clocks would have an EML light and povo spec ones would have a choke light so they'd share the wiring. :)

No worries mate glad i could help.
The choke/eml wiring is the same, the Choke light is in like SR dials (which have the same face bit as GSi).
Got this working by connecting the original choke/clocks brown/yellow to the XE loom brown/blue as agreed earlier, think the bulb wasn't making a good connection so didn't work before
