Yep, there's loads of temp cover companies out there - even Sky can offer a temp policy.

If you're under 21 or the car is modified you'll have problems though.

Ah. Yeah. lol

There was another thread about this a while back, and iirc the conclusion was if you're <25 its hard, if you're <21 its not going to happen!

Call the AA, state specifically that you need a flatbed, and tell them you were visiting a friend and it just won't start. lol

So only think i can really do is get some one thats fully comp and can drive any can 3rd party and just get seller to keep it insured for a wee bit longer

That would work, yeah. Assuming its all taxed and etc.

The AA thing would probably work IF your cover was on you and not the car.

I have an Rac card which means i get free recovery even if im a passenger in any car, but should be sorted, Apparently you can add a can to a insurance policy for a week :)

Usually the subject car has to be insured.

IIRC our trade insurance don't require the car to be insured by the owner.

Most companies give money back if you cancel before 14 days so just a start a policy then cancel it

This would work but the Insurers will keep the deposit, charge you for the time you were covered and usually whack an Administration fee on top, could easily make it over a couple hundred quid.

Really? Hmm, every "drive any car" policy I've seen has requried the vehicle to have basic insurance cover. To stop 17 year old kids insuring 1.0 metros then driving an Impreza STi lol

^my mate has trade insurance and it doesnt work like that, he doesnt pay to insure a specific car, just a set amount to be insured on any car. there is limitations though, i know he couldnt get a cossie on it.

For most standard policies yeah, But trade insurance is different? Since most 17 year olds cant get trade insurance anyway. Our insurance at work is a min age of 19.

This wont work due to as soon as you hand over cash it becomes your car so the owners insurance becomes void i think, i know a guy who got pulled over driving his new RS2000 home from buying it, seller had kept it insured for his cover to be valid on it but the feds explained that in theory he had done the right thing but it had become his car as soon as the moneys were in the sellers hand and therefore he had to take a new policy out on his credit card at the roadside, which was lenient as they couldve just impounded the car there and then:eek:
