G-MAX is just a cheap kit really so you get what you pay for.

i had gmax a long time ago i found them quite stiff to be honest very harsh ride. but didnt have them long, if you want i got some Koni Coilovers for sale there stiff. And these dampers are new and cost 350 for the full set without springs but these do need springs unfortuantly. so can get the springs ordered to what you want! pm me but i do have also someone after them

Generally only when cornering.

What's your budget? Personally coilovers are overrated for road use and a decent set of springs and shockers will be ample for road handling IMO, save up and get yourself a set of yellow bilstien's :)

im guessing lowered springs on standard shocks...

i have the G-MAX full kit incuding dampers and stuff but its still pritty soft so i think i will up grade 2 coilovers when i get sum money in

Just get yourself a set of stiffer springs, coilovers are overrated and I suspect you'll be looking a a cheap £170 set but there a tad shiit and still pretty soft.

some coilovers require turretting of the rear inner arch aswell, so that will add and extra few hundred quid too

Unless your buying Gaz, Bilstein etc don't bother with coilovers imo

So your looking for no suspension travel at all then ?

I had G Max kit for a week on one of my SR's and I thought they were MEGA stiff tbh

depends what u want from your car. Why you want it so stiff? Will take its tole on the shell eventually. Budget coilovers are stiff with the helper springs removed but the fitment is ****. Ive got them and im getting rid. Gmax tends to be quite stiff. If there brand new give them time to settle. Or look into gaz or avo coilovers. Dnt need to turret the rear but will need to strenthen the shock mounts

what rims and tyres have you on. My car with spax t/a feels soft with 175/65 14 inch when i went to 15 inch with 45 series tyres it felt very harsh

ive upgraded my suspension .

That's the contradiction, right there.

Sadly you bought poor quality parts for your car. Either put up with it or flog it on & buy something proven.

What condition are the bushes in on your car? I'm guessing you've overlooked these important components.

only racing cars on slicks need really stiff springs.....

road cars will go way faster with decent fairly soft springs...maybe 20% stiffer than normal, which isn't that harsh....

i am one of the people that can't understand trying to make a car handle like a gokart, when it is for use on the road....

im gona buy all new bushes for the car ive seen a hole nova bush kit so that will do, and im running astra gte alloys on 195/60/14 but i have a new set of wheels that are going on witch are 195/45/15 and stick 2 the G-MAX kit 4 now and see if theres any change.

Using Gmax shocks too? or just springs..?
As mentioned the spring rates on the gmax's are likely to be lower (170lb?) so chaiging the springs for a higher poundage (180lb,190lb) will stiffen the ride a bit more..
Eccentric top mounts will stiffen the car up too, as they bin the rubber top mount for a metal one. Will give you loads of adjustment and should help direct steering a bit more...
Go with poly bushes as theyre stiffer than new rubber, let alone old rubber bushes.

If your using the car on the road only, that g-max kit youve got will be fine, i,d change all the bushes and topmounts for standard new ones from vauxhall and get a set of 16 valve brakes, get it all aligned properly with decent tyres and you'll be sorted, with the state of the roads coilovers and polybushes etc make it a nightmare on a road car, u get rattled to death in it'll skip all over the road esp in the wet and probably end up in a dyke backwards:cry:

Is RallyDesign still the best place to buy bushes?

I found if my suspension was too solid, the car used to skip round corners too much. A little bit of lean helped with the handling. Thats for a road car mind, I can imagine a track car its a case of more solid is more bettererest
