i was 26 when i got married... we had been together for some years & decided to do it, no baby plans, we just thought, lets get married, & 3 months later, we were... none of this go out with a girl for 6 months, then announce that next year you are getting engaged, then some poxy beach wedding in somewhere exotic.....

all in it was 2 grand with a pissup for 100+ people. we got married, we didn't have a 'wedding'...

This is where me and him differ, i want to be married but not have a wedding, but...........i have been married before (and it was sh!t) invited family who only ever see you at weddings and funerals, i wouldn't recognise half of them if i passed them on the street.

Engaged 18 months and probs for the next 18 years if we can't decide on something....lol

i only invited people who i wanted. then the horse trading attempts started... 'i think so & so should be invited' etc.. usually to get a free lift home.. & my divorced mum & dad were told to get on with the idea that both were invited with their new other halves & i wasn't changing my mind... simply done, with help from some decent friends & fondly remembered.

Well this time if i have my way, we'll be shooting over to Gretna as it's only a few miles up the road, grab a couple witnesses and Bob's yer uncle, job done.

I really don't see the point in making huge fusses about weddings and paying absolute thousands. It's just pointless. At the end of the day if you truely love the person you don't need all of that stuff to make it special :) I'd be quite happy with a quick and quiet wedding with the bare minimum of people there. I think there is literally about 3 people from my side of the family that would be invited.

Valentines day? I might treat the missus and her 5 daughters to an action packed day.

Not that its happening for years yet but my wedding will be poxy small and ****, but the honeymoon will be mega! Why pay for people you may never see again to have a great time when half of them sit with a face like a slapped bum?

Marriage i about the two in love and the best place for them to experince that is not jut the moment they get married but the holiday after :) after all it is all about the 2 in love. :)

If I was to invite all my family i'd get "well i'm not coming if so and so comes" "well you obviously value them far more then me"
Not worth the hassle. I'd prefer to just run away and do it lol

The main problem I have with weddings is finding a groom lol

Mike
29-01-11, 11:17 AM
lol @ Lynz's comment lol

Was talking about carp like this at work the other day with a mate who's dearly in love with his missus.... came to the conclusion that weddings are overated & sorely overpriced lol

You need lessons from my mum...in less then a week of being with a bloke she was engaged, they had a holiday planned and were planning on moving in together. :tard:lol

nail on head mike... you can get married for a couple of hundred quid......or have a wedding.......thats why i got married.

from experience, the more expensive the wedding, the shorter the marriage.

example. once went to a black tie only wedding in the middle of london, they had old red double deckers to take the guests from the candle lit chapel to claridges for the reception.. there was no bar, each table had its own sommellier(posh poof wine expert), the do was fine, but we had to stop for chips on the way back to where we were staying...

groom worth $25m+ bride now divorced & worth £10m....... not bad for 18months of putting up with the most boring bloke we'd ever met.....

You bunch of miserable *******s! lol

I cant wait to get married and have all my family and friends there. I will spend as much as it takes to have the day of my dreams. you are only supposed to do it once afterall.
My family are so scattered about the country that weddings and funerals are the only time all of them can get together. Weddings are lovely and who cares how much you do or dont spend, as long as you have the people that you love around you, and you enjoy it.
Oh and free bar too pls. :d

oh and Valentines day, ill be at work and wont even see Jacky. lol
