Thinners but that will take paint off as-well or Panel Wipe, Petrol works really well in a spray bottle but fumes are dangerous lol

I believe people usually soften it up with a heat gun then scrape it off

Best way is use a bluntish wood chisel, or a plastic gasket scraper (looks like a wood chisel, but strangely enough made of plastic) and scrape/chip it all off. Then use thinners/petrol/brake cleaner/strong solvent of your choice to wipe off the residue.

Just be careful not to dig it into the metalwork and Bob's your Auntie.

Heat gun will just make it gooey and stickier

White spirit on a rag. Jobbed.

Done my entire shell like this & it left a pukka surface ready for panel wipe & primer.

Use a plastic scraper to take the worst of it off, then the rest just use petrol making sure you have the windows down/boot open etc, and leave it overnight with the windows down if possible (garaged?) to let the fumes dissipate.

Don't use a heat-gun or scraper, it gets it off quickly but turns into a sticky mess that takes even longer to get rid of.

i used a screwdriver as it was coming away in big pieces and used old petrol to get rid of the residue
