Whats the best head gasket to use for a 1.3 and where are they available ?
Conrad
the one that your local motor factors sells.
that way you guarantee that it isn't damaged in transit.
payen or elring(OE supplier to gm) are good brands.
get new head bolts too
Try here http://www.allittmotorsport.co.uk/nova1300.html good prices and mail order too.
just go local, it saves the cost of the carriage too.

Payen
bad idea getting mail order, only takes mr dickarrse postman tvvat to bend it when posting it through your letterbox.....
Agreed no no to head gasket in the post
Just get one from vauxhall IMO and get the bolts while your there
Fook cheap gasket/bolts just asking for trouble
A gasket is a gasket tbh,aslong as theres a seal,thats it,done.
Ive used old bolts on 8v's-they love an extra quarter of a turn lol
i bet you've never tried to get a snapped head bolt back out then andy???
i'll never again use s/hand bolts.. the saving was soon eaten by the cost of the second gasket & then a set of new bolts
A quarter of a turn extra shouldnt snap it.Ive done it a few times, now im in a better financial position i wouldnt though.

I'm with Mowgli - never ever ever use old bolts. The amount of stretch is quite scary second time around. A bit of crud in the hole and they bottom out, then they snap, then you're in the ****!
I used to have the lid off my race 1300 so many times that I knew the part numbers off-by-heart! Always used genuine GM parts, never had a blown one.

Head gasket, 90398046 @ £22.42 + VAT
Head Bolts, 90398532 @ £1.25 each + VAT
I can post but all my stuff is sent by DHL and is insured, in ten years doing MO parts i've not had a bent gasket arrive
Cheers
Andy
