Explaining the offside rule to women...
You're in a shoe shop, second in the queue for the till. Behind the shop assistant on the till is a pair of shoes which you have seen and which you must have.

The female shopper in front of you has seen them also and is eyeing them with desire.

Both of you have forgotten your purses.

It would be totally rude to push in front of the first woman if you had no money to pay for the shoes.

The shop assistant remains at the till waiting.

Your friend is trying on another pair of shoes at the back of the shop and sees your dilemma.

She prepares to throw her purse to you.

If she does so, you can catch the purse, then walk round the other shopper and buy the shoes.

At a pinch she could throw the purse ahead of the other shopper and, *whilst it is in flight* you could nip around the other shopper, catch the purse and buy the shoes.

Always remembering that until the purse had *actually been thrown* it would be plain wrong to be forward of the other shopper.

Congratulations - You have just learned the offside rule!

An attacking player is offside if:

1. He is in the opposition's half AND
2. There is less than TWO defensive players between him and the goal line (inc. the goalie) AND
3. The player is ahead of the ball (i.e. doesn't have posession of the ball)

Bear in mind that if you have possession of the ball, you're "behind" it. So, for example, if you receive the ball whilst onside, then manouever so that only one defender is between you and the goal line you're not offside. There's a couple of other little foibles, but thats the main of it.

Its not the rule thats hard to understand, its the fact most football-oriented oafs are usually so anal about making the "sport" complex and ingenious that they try to over-complicate it when they explain it.

Now that I understand. It's much easier to try and understand it in football terms rather then in terms that have nothing to do with it lol

I spend a lot of my day explaining technical computery stuff to non-technical people. I spent 20 mins explaining networking to someone earlier. So I'm quite good at explaining stuff lol

Computer stuff is relatively simple when you think about it logically. Same as offside, its a simple logic rule with a set of conditions.

It helps when it's told plainly and not using irrelavant things. One of my friends tried to explain it using salt and pepper pots which confused the hell out of me...as did the purse throwing and shoes lol

Because some shoes just don't go with certain outfits! So then you need a pair of shoes that will go with that outfit. Plus you need going out shoes, comfy shoes, exercising shoes, summer shoes and winter shoes lol It all adds up.

I went shopping with Yorkie and the woman in front of us was buying 14 pairs of shoes!!!

What on earth are treggings?

I understand the offside rule but dont understand how 1 women needs 700 pairs of shoes and 100 bags cluttering up the walk in wardrobelollollol a girl needs a pair of shoes for every occassion. :-) and then she clearly needs a matching bag. Easy. And treggings are the trouser legging. Ha ha

Birds have enough fashion choices, what with nicking everything a man could ever call his own and then bringing out their own variant. There's no need to add to the mix with made up words like the above. lol

Although some of it can look sexy on the right woman. Wet look leggings ftw. lol
