1400 8v not getting spark

Ive just put my 1400 engine back in my car and ive put all the wires back on the way they came of ive cleaned all the earths and it turns over but im not getting a spark apart from when i wind it over then when you switch the ingnition off sometimes it sparks ?/:confused: HELP please
