Hi peeps, at last i've found a saloon (Also 5 door :p @mk999) fuel tank for my xe conversion. I have a fuel pump from a Mpi corsa sri, (c14se) wil this work ok or not?

cool, looking on the net folks recommend using a 16v mpi pump, can't find the reasoning behind that though?

as above john just swap the gubbins over.

I fitted the whole unit to my SPI tank, was that wrong?

IIRC the mpi pumps are the same for SE and XE

Yeah you will just have de-solder the nova pump and fit the corsa one.

Or you can use a mk3 astra mpi one, you can then bolt the whole lot in instead of messing about with solder.

Corsa housings dont bolt in afaik.

Thats right the corsa ones have a securing ring on top instead of the 6 8mm bolts

Damo

corsa housings are bigger but as said just bung a mpi astra mk3 one in as i did.

The c14se corsa one i have is the same diamter as the spi pump, just a little longer. Will just have to space it up a little accordingly.

A couple more rubber seals maybe? I just bolted mine straight in as it ran fine on my 1600, hmm.

The astra ones are a little bigger too john but they fit in fine mate there should be no need to space it out.

When i say "space" i mean slide up the rubber.

If you can mate but i think some people cut a little off top and bottom of the pump too to gain a little.

This is also what mine was like on the 1600, although that ran lean as standard lol Pretty sure that had more to do with a dodgy regulator/sensor than the fuel pump though :p

Hmm come to think about it the guy at Jamsport rolling road day said my 1600 was running lean at the top end. Coincidence?

Is there an easy way to check fuel pressure at the rail? Can you use that threaded bleed wotsit on there?

Was yours running any engine modifications at all?

K&N filter and 4-1/2" exhaust system so approx 200bhp.

FPMSL lol lol Classic lol

Yes Iain you can fit a gauge on the rail pressure valve. Obviously needs be a remote gauge though to read it whilst driving, unless you're on a RR.

My XE runs fine though,so doubt its a problem tbh.

Needs Skyline RB26 injectors then, all 6.

I assume we're talking 16xe though, as my 1600 doesn't have a gauge take off :p

lol My 1600 ran fine too, well it felt ok, I remember it being quite acceptable in the National A50 Grand Prix a few years ago.

hmm, just measured up my mpi pump and it's far too deep to fit in the tank, need to rethink.

How much further does it need to go in john as i had a couple off mm to 'lose' when i fitted mine but it squashed in fine and gives no problems.

:thumb:

You're worried about it being deeper, where abouts does the standard SPI pump sit in the internal swirl pot? If it sits half inch above the bottom and the new pump is half inch longer it won't be a problem?

John

will go get some pics..........

See the mpi pump out of the corsa is too long. With the gauze on the pump and it sitting in the swirl pot, the top of the pump is just proud of the top of the tank.

Im sure I took a pic of my SPI pump against the MPI pump but I can't for the life of me find it. Obv wasn't as tall as yours cos like you say thats blatantly never gonna fit.

Scrappy wanted £10 for a fuel pump when I bought one a few yrs ago.
