View Full Version : Clutch cable replacing...

Reight my college work is all done and if the weather is ok tomorrow i wanna replace my clutch cable.

Are there any problems i am likly to run into while doing this?


I have the bible before you say owt mike :P

what else may i have to do that the haynes dun tell me, like do i have to grease the cable? etc

any tips pointers etc etc.


All i bought was a new cable, do i need owt else?

take the old 1 off, ajust the nut on the new 1 so its in about the same place as the other, then fit new 1. you might need a long bar to wedge back the clutch while you pop the end of the cable in :)

i tend to add a little grease at the ends of the cable,just to reduce a little wear. also grease the clutch pivot to prevent a howl/squeek

Fitted a new cable today , was pretty easy.

most difficuilt was getting the cable off the pedel. because of big hands and small working place.

My problem now is that the clucth whines/ squeaks when released. i have creased all points,

***should there be play on the linkfrom the cable to the GB***

i can pull the metel thing towards the front of the car...
