Got a flushed in vent on my 1.2, sits just above the rocker cover (top half, over dust bin filter and part of the dizzy/gearbox.

Obviuosly rain aint gonna be too brill but what do you lot think in regards to rain? The vent is a celica Gt4 vent so is rather large.

You rekon the block will be ok? It doesnt go over the carb, only the top of the dizzy slightly!

Any recommendations regarding rain or shall i just leave it?

I only fitted the bonnet today so havn't tested it in rain yet! No stupid comments regarding getting a normal bonnet please!

Cheers Whitey

the engine isnt going to like the rain in it, even over the rocker cover, the problem will be it getting in large amounts in the plugs and leads, id worry, but i did hear somewhere you can get covers form the grills, kinda like a rain catcher thing, and ran it down past the ngine to the floor, kinda like the vents under the window screen. dunno how to go about getting them tho :(

HA, it wont cause any probs on the rocker at all, only the electrics to worry about, i know all that!

Pressure washed the bay last week and all was fine, only really need to worry bout block when it is hot and then a full on cold load of water gets poured on, a little rain will be fine!

Just wondering if anyone has had any issues or would recommend anything, I know most vents have a plastic irragation channel pointing to floor, suppose this would be possible with a piece of clear high temp acyclic bout an inch below the mesh at an angle and suspended somehow!

Water retention spray on electrics.

Three things.....

1. Theres a great hole under the engine where water can get up through, has that enormous hole ever done you any harm?

2. Engines are very hot pieces of technology, a few drops of rain won't even have time to bounce off.

3. What about Cars/4x4's that wade through water, where the entire engine is surrounded by water, they don't cut out.

You just have to make sure all connections are good. 12v isn't all that affected by water....
