lol your going tonight???
hartley
21-01-11, 05:36 PM
i am leaving at 11 tonight and just having a steady drive down hoping to be there for 6 in the morning then have a hours sleep in the nova then go pick me cage and brace up then on the way back stop off at on of the service and maybe have another hours sleep and then head back home if it goes to plan al be happy
You do know theres **** loads of salt about.
Why take the Nova? Surely a mate has a car to do it in? Been cheaper to rent a van than insure and tax the Nova lol.
hartley
21-01-11, 05:40 PM
not realy mate a just swapped it over of me corsa which a sold and it only cost £69 to tax
surely one nights drive wont hurt it and al give it a good blast down when a get home

do yous think the water and salt will do any damage going the and back if i blast it off when i get back to my house with a hot jet wash
Yes it'll completely ruin it beyond repair.
I love the fact most people seem to forget that the novas will of been used for years in the winter but all of a sudden 2011 salt must be hardcore and will ruin your car ha ha ha
Use the fecking thing its survived this long anyway!
hartley
21-01-11, 05:58 PM

With that small amount of miles on the clock I hope the cam belts not the original, also how old are the tyres?
Good look on your journey you nutter lol
General Baxter

1.0 doesn't have a cambelt, or most things from 1965 onwards tbf.....
i still think you should have gone on the cheap coach..... the motorway network is hardly fun, most of the m1 from MK to the m25 is contraflow & 50 limit....remember, when you get to leicester, you are 1/2 way there....
hartley
21-01-11, 06:10 PM
be kwicker in the nova than a coach
General Baxter

Southie

You like your road trips lol
If your putting the cage in the nova don't forget a 13mm spanner/socket as you'll need to take the front seats out to fit it in :thumb:
this thread needs a poll.....

a hammer, for when something breaks lol
you will do maybe 40mpg, if yu are lucky... so 16.25 gallons = £90 odd, more if you buy on the mway.. then snacks & drinks, allow £20 minimum....so £110... and panic transport would palletise & get it there in 24hrs for about 60.... and you could sit at home...

now this is a vdub scene thing.... every time i've ever driven south of bristol, there is always some modified vw on a beavertail on its way north...
i never know if they really have broken down, or the owner is too pissed to drive back so they nick the rotor arm & ring the AA

hartley
21-01-11, 06:53 PM

Don't forget to take your socket set, there is no way you'll get it in the car with out the front seats still fitted

lmfao @ not wanting a cage to be posted due to risk of damage.
Its a cage. If it can hold up a car doing a cartwheel, I'm sure it will be ok in the post.
...oh, its a what? I see. Collection preferred.

lol good good!
right... palletised goods are inherently safe due to the really big wooden thing that it is put on.... the panic wagons are multi deck & each pallet has its own unique space... for gods sake, one occasion over xmas, i delivered 18 pallets to a store.... one single pallet was worth 16000 quid... and was full of glass... a lump of polished ally scaffold will be safe

lol You wanna see how we used to transport glass when i used to fit windows, weve gone into ditches and theyve still been fine lol
If a "roll cage" breaks in transit, its gonna be useless in a nova, quite literally lol
fearless cage.... its an oxymoron.......like military intelligence

lol lol lol
You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to mowgli again.
dam lol
Isn't it safer to have no cage in a crash than trusting a fearless item ?
This reminded me of the Saxo in a bush crash on YouTube. They get out and keep on about how lucky they are that it had a cage fitted when they only put a dent in the bonnet lol

it will, but 3 days later lol
Or three days earlier depending on if he reaches 88 mph lol
it'll only do 88mph on the big hill from j22 towards leicester....

the little old 1L will manage no problems, I traveled all over in mine :p
Think it will do more than 88Mph aswell

only on the speedo........
only on the speedo........100mph on the nova speedo down the m62 in my old red one.Probably around 91mph really
more like 85mph...unless on bigger radius wheels
more like 85mph...unless on bigger radius wheels
on standard 3 spokes my old 1300 sr standard did 117ish on the speedo and 104 on the sat nav,so what i previously posted probably not a million miles out

Speaking from experience? You've actually done the same trip in the same way? I stand corrected...
i've driven it enough times in wagons........... i'll challenge anyone to enjoy any motorway journey in the uk.......... the A roads are way nicer, in fact, some of them are truly amongst the greatest roads in the world...
but a1(m), m1, m25,m23,a23 and back is utter hell. spending an hour in brighton, which is alright, then heading home its not my idea of fun
