People need to be realistic and stop ordering them and having them delivered lol

You would have thought, either wrap them properly, of just go collect themlol

i must of had over a hundred panels fooked by couriers, nearly put me out of business in the end!

But as Rick said!

i used to send cab glass out on carriers, and i found that if it went out with the edges covered, and the main bit open, they always got there intact..

ps. OP i hope you wrote damaged on the paperwork & paid for insurance on the item...

where were the fragile, do not stack stickers...??

You mean the ones that translate to "Kick me" and "Guess how many items you can get on top of this one!" in 'Delivery man'? lol

Posting panels is never really gonna work unless it's suspended in a 2x2 framework full of packing chips with plywood sides, by the time you've weighed that though you might as well just go and collect it lol

edit: is that door being collected by OCP? Because with a poke or two and a bit of filler that won't come out too bad lol

back in the day, the only courier we would never use was securicor, (can't remember who bought them).. they employed some ex coppers & they were absolute ar$eholes.. we sent 30 tractor starter motors & 28 were smashed upon delivery... they are not exactly light weight.... the collecting driver was seen throwing them into the van, but we weren't allowed to remove & check them because of rules...

i used to send large plastic & steel items too, but they were always packed so the carrier could see what they were & we had stencils to spray fragile in huge letters on the boxes.

If they have more stock, they may offer to post another, DO NOT ACCEPT. Just take a refund, and if you really need a door, drive over and collect it.

I had a total of 6 delivered all in simaliar condition, then just drove over and collected 4. Have two spare in my loft.

Well, been on the phone, after sending some pics, iam having another one sent out to , hopfully its better wrapped, if it happens again i will be asking for a refund.

Beleive me i would quite happily go over and collect the parts, but would need a van and co poilet to go over cause i wouldnt just collect a door it would be plenty of panels to make it worth the trip.

I remember the bother keith had with his doors, but also heard other people getting parts fine, just hoped i would be lucky, but i guess not.

Might try and see if its fixable if not then its off to the scrap lol.

IMO the damage occurs from couriers here in England

The door I had delivered left Germany, landed at Exeter airport the straight up the M5 to me by one TNT van, as said it arrived no probs

I knew it was a risk after reading the horror storries from Keith but all was ok

The problem about picking them up is that is going to make a door about £600 fine if your a lottery winner

well, i havnt checked fridays lotto ticket yet so i might well be in there lol.

Keep hold of the door if they don't ask for it back

Could maybe get the dents banged out bit of filler and sell it on

edit: I also didn't realise this place was in Germany, so not going to collect is understandable :p When it comes to panels I'm more of a, slightly rusty £20 to you sir kinda guy lol

What courier delivered it ?

When I bought mine last week, I sent OCP a message telling then I wanted it well packaged, mine had more protective stuff on the inside than yours

Then got a email saying it was being sent special delivery by TNT

It's bad that they don't package them up better.

I got a new boot (not dont them, but direct for Vauxhall) and it was just in a storage box, hence why one corner had a dent.

Can you still get skins from Vauxhall?

Makes me glad my Celica doors are built like brick outhouses now - heavy, so expensive to post, but my passenger one arrived in a bin bag and was still perfect!

Probably why it was perfect... big box gives you a false sense of security/less idea what's inside it. If you sent a large glass vase by courier I bet it'd end up smashed in a box but arrive fine if you just put a label on the glass lol

Keith has already stated that he had 6 door turn up ruined, other members have had the same issues. The only way to get one thats undamaged it would seem is to go and get one. I fail to see what the point is in having yet another one sent to him.

You tried smashing a car window recently? It's not as easy as denting a door tbh lol Nova doors dent if you blow gently in their general direction for a start, loads of them have that little dimple dent just below the window on the drivers door, happens if you try and close the door with your ass (like you can manage with most cars) the door folds up and pops back out just leaving that dent lol

L14MNP
21-01-11, 10:57 AM
Windows break very easily when dropped though.

I think if the panels were suitably protected with bubble wrap or similar and fragile/do not stack clearly marked on them, along with being registered/insured then they would be fine in transit.

The state these doors arrive in really is a joke!

NOV4_SPORT
21-01-11, 11:48 AM
lol, all this over a bloody door, the way i look at it is, if the next door arrives biggered then i will ask for my money back, if its ok then all the better.
