hi i want to no if the 1.2 - 1.6 8v heads are all interchangerble ect and also i have read the 1.4 8v tuning guide and have a 1.4 8v on twin 40's will the inlet manifold of the 1.4 fit onto a 1.2 head?

as i hear good things from the 1.2 head and would like to do this mod.

thanks for any help:thumb:

you need to say which engine block you want to fit the head/heads to, then you get a good answer to you question .

True for the MPi heads, but the carb heads are different again :p

The best flowing are the MPi heads - bigger valves, round inlet ports etc

Then the 1200/1300 heads...best for you to stick one of these on unless you fancy a swap for a complete 1.4/1.6 MPi engine and run that on carbs...but more work again sorting ignition and not particularly cheap engines to come by. You will be able to pick a 1200 head up for peanuts still :thumb: also these will keep the compression ratio roughly where it wants to be...the MPi heads will alter it too much

The 1.4 manifold you have will only fit the 1.4 carb head, you could stick with that and possibly go into headwork and cam change...but there are better gains to be had performing these same modifications on one of the other two types of head which is why I would recommend a head change if you really want to stick with the engine you have

Hope this all helps :)

I whacked together a 1400 block, 1200 carb head, 1600sv cam and 1200 inlet and carb, went pretty well for £50 :)

well i think i will fit a 1200 carb head and get a twin 40 inlet for it and sell my 1400 inlet or swap.

i dont no much about cams like duration and lift ect anyone got any advise on what is a good cam to use or best value of money ect

engine will be a 1400block 1200head and twin 40's

thanks everyone for this information

Kent AST2 is a good choice for use with 40s for fast road use

is that just the cam? and will it need a vernier on it ?

It would be best to get a new KIT from Kent Cams, as that will have new springs, followers, stem seals etc...a vernier pulley is not required, but recommened to make the most of the new camshaft. These have to be bought separately, so you might as well get one of these secondhand to save a few pennies :)

is that kent cam kit £300

also would i need that cam kit for the 1200 head fitted or 1600 for maximum gains ect or will they be the same as i dont no much about cams

any idea of power gains from that and approx power output with 1200head and twin 40's?

thanks

are the twin 40 manifolds for the 1200 and 1300 head the same?
