I bought this with the intention of repairing it and then using it for a couple of months while my other 1 is repaired, but I've only succeeded in taking the old engine out and haven't touched it since before Christmas due to other committments (sp?) and these look to be continuing for another couple of months, Gearbox,shafts, loom and ECU are all still in the car, its literally just a case of dropping another lump in there, code is X18XE1, I have a cambelt and service parts which can be bought at trade price, so is a fairly easy job,
I just don't have the time.
I also have a replacement engine, however this is from a Vectra and I can't guarentee all sensors are in the same position (same code, etc) which is available for an extra £200
Spec is:
2001 Astra Coupe,
1.8
MOT'd til October (has only done 200 miles since last MOT)
No tax,
3 previous owners.
Good Points:
Heated Red Leather Interior (Drivers seat has wear but the rest is near-mint,
traction Control,
ABS, PAS, A/C, etc all mod cons basically,
Alloys,
4 New tyres (200 miles of use),
Discs all round with next to no wear,
New Alternator,
Some history.
Bad Points:
Has done 150k, majority motorway miles I believe, suspension seems in better condition than my 80k Coupe, you wouldn't know the mileage looking at the body,
1 Roof gutter rail is stuck in,.
rear Bumper has a dent, but no paintwork damage or cracks, etc, could be pushed out, if not 2nd hand ones are cheap enough on AOC.
As stated above, drivers seat has wear.
Thats about it, literally a case of putting another lump in, taxing it and away you go, you could even XE or LET it.
Obviously will require towing/transporting due to the very obvious fact that there is no engine!
