Lucky nova number 7 has finally arrived after a 5yr gap. This turned up locally on ebay and sold on for £410 but the winning bidder was a timewaster so i managed to get it for £350. Has mot and tax till april 4 previous owner and a genuine 77,000miles but the headgasket has gone. Bodywork is really good with hardly any rust just needs a litte paint work. Plan is to sort the paint and keep it OME, want to fit electric sunroof, window and mirrors to bring upto date then ENJOY IT!

Cheers for your comments,in 2 minds weather i should modify or leave standard. Have got some astra gsi fans,288mm brakes and 40mm spax could put on but not many standard examples left now.
That's a good price, looks clean
I would seriously leave it standard, not many about, looks much better and will be worth more in the future

Thanks, thats probably what i'll do but never had a stantard nova before so hoefully i will be able to resist to modify it.
Just change the suspension brakes and wheels IMO maybe a few tweaks to the engine and leave the exterior
Standard look ftw

Update, compression tested it yesterday and it not the head gasket at fault-it the rings! Good excuse for a rebuild then! Whilst on the ramp had a good chance to have poke around, its really solid so well chuffed. Even has the original windscreen and exhaust!! More pics in the week.

Engine competely striped now ready for a rebuild, sending block off for a .5mm rebore tomorrow. When i drained the oil 5.5ltrs came out!! 2.5ltrs was petrol though, think the pump must have been leaking.

Smoking was because of oil down the exhaust and engine bedding in. Gave the exhaust a good clean and ran it for an hour plus 40miles.
Dip beam was due to the indicator stalk switch faulty.
Should hopefully have it on the road monday fingers crossed!
Will give it a good clean tomorrow, pitures to follow, now to start saving up the body resto now!!!

Haven't updated for a while as been busy with running it in ,work & family etc...
Went to a charity rolling road day today organized via dubgeneration at Cliven Atthowes in Norwich. Pleased to say it made 78bhp @ flywheel and 61.5bhp @ wheels @7275 rpm!!!
Not too bad considering the timing and carb haven't been set up properly yet and i've only done 1100miles since the rebuild.
Pictures and graphs to follow.

Many Many years ago I had my standard SR rolling roaded, std she was @62hp at the wheels, I then DIY polished the head and removed the sharp corners on the exhaust side and returned to the RR and got 66hp at the wheels.
Later I fitted a the 32/34 Weber and 4 branch/and sports system, always thought ahe was @ 85hp at the flywheel but was never checked, from your runs, I'm guessing was about right.
Keep up the good work;)
Looks absolutely stunning.

I actually hated the 32/34 weber on my old sr, even though it was setup correctly it seemed to be nothing but trouble, I went for a bike carb setup after that which was far more responsive.

I have to say mine never missed a beat and always ran well;)
Many years ago I left my friend for dust off the lights in the SR (he had a Astra Mk1 GTE) lost touch with him, bumped into him 15 years later..........first thing he said was " I still don't know how you beat me off the lights"lol lol lol lol
