im thinking of dropping the lump into my gsi who has done it themselves and is it hard??????how did it take ??was any1 dissapointed with the results after they had fitted it?

i was dissapointed with the performance of my 16v i thought it would be alot faster than what it was!

Same here, everyone builds valver Nova's up to be supercar fast. I was well disappointed with mine.

well i can say after driving a 1.4 SR i went in a valver and was well impressed!!!

its a fair bit of work, driveshafts, etc all need changing.....but me and a mate are gonna put one in mine, costing about ?700-800 all in :D

I had mine in for 4 months before it died and then I put a turbo in. Wish i'd gone straight for the turbo though, would have saved a fair bit of money.

why would it have saved money??? most of the parts bought for the conversion are used for the turbo conversion and the engine can be sold for the same amount/more than it was bought for

Because I was stupid and paid a bit more than I should have for my valver and it had a new fault/problem every week and it cost me a fortune in fixing it. Everything seemed good for a while and then the oil pump failed and has knackered all the bottom end up so engine is pretty much worthless now. All in all spent over ?1200 on that conversion because of repair costs etc. All i've managed to use off it on turbo is gearbox, alternator and bottom pulley and rear water pipe. My fault for buying a shitter though I suppose :(

as ste says , cheapish!,sold my valver for ?500 had to add ?500 on for let and f28 but meant i already had the shafts driverside mount and all the engine bay mods for the let to slot straight in! only prob now is waitinf for my f28 mount kit from pvd 1 1/2 months so far :lol: ffs :evil:

no it did rr@ 185bhp so it wasnt std!

I gathered it wasnt standard!

although i bought a GTE door of a guy the other day for ?20 and asked how much for the engine nad he wanted ?350 for a 1600 8v!

I thought ahhh, thats why the doors only ?20.

i baught a crash damaged astra gte 16v for ?650 made loads bak on it!

but no the 16v i sold for ?500 was good, it came from my nova and had 80k onit!

have seen a few GTE 16v astras around for ?2-300, mate bought a cav GSi for ?250 and had 17" wheels, leathers, etc etc- sod!
