Goin to pick the nova up tomorow, however spoke to the bloke earlier and hes only just told me that the rear wheel is making a noise and he thinks its the rear wheel bearing??

Im just concerned as iv got a 147.7 mile trip back in the morning?

Will it be ok? im going to have to attempt as iv only brought 1 way tickets lol

Any advice?

Prob be ok, May be worth nipping it up before leaving though. Would be a wheel off, hubnut cover off, split pin out and then a 24mm spanner/socket to nip it up

nipping it up could make it worse though if it's worn, tbh I would just drive it and get it sorted when you get back if you're worried about it. It's not gonna fall off with the split pin in it.

Worst comes to the worst I think the police will move the car for you after the rear wheel comes off at 70, but that's really very unlikely lol It will be fine :thumb:

Mines had a front wheel bearing that sounds like a growling dog for ages, and Jack drove around with a swarm of bees in his front wheel bearing for about a year I think :p

wear tena pants, saves a mess if the wheel decides to part company with the car lol

Me and my dad drove mine around 4000 mile on my old dodgy front bearing, sounded horrible and had loads of play in the wheel by the end of it, never fell off, jsut be cautious dude, shouldnt come off if the split pin is good and strong :thumb:

Actually it will lol. Thats exactly how I crashed my Sprinter years ago when I was coming off the M42 onto the M40. A woman in the inside lane was in a corsa and the rear wheel popped off herbie style, and she slammed into the side of me :(

The split pin stops the nut from coming loose. Trouble is, if the bearing disintegrates, the drum can pass over the hub nut and bugger off into the hedge with the wheel attached to it, unlike the front wheels which are clamped on with the CV lol.

Bear in mind the bearing will have to be properly knackered for it to go that far. Apparently she had asked some traffic wombles about the crunchy noise that was coming from the back of the car. The Wombles told her it should be fine but to drive carefully.

They were the first to arrive at the scene as well, bet they felt great lol. There was a baby in the car as well  Copper rekons if I wasn't there to stop her she'd have slammed into the armco and done a load more damage.

i was gona say this if he pin is in the wheel can still come off as the pin wont be big enough to catch the race once the bearings have gone walkies lol :cuckoo:
