ive got a 1600 8v nova gsi engine spare, was removed complete from a gsi i scrapped, but over time a few sensors have been sold etc. Been looking at carbs, as its going into a carb shell too. Will nova sport webbers and manifolds fit the 1600 head? Also seen delortos for sale to suit my engine, any big difference between the webbers and dellorto carbs? Car wont be of any huge spec. Besides the carbs, manifolds, altenator brackets and throttle cables, what else do i need to get to convert? Probably been covered in the past, but every car ive got and ever had have been on fuel injection. lol

Nova sr 1400 dizzy and wiring and coil.

Also, nova sport carbs, as they're for a 1300 have a different shaped inlet ports.

you need to sort out some form of carb fuel pump.. either by fitting an electric one, or by sticking a carb model cam carrier on it with a mechanical pump

cool that all makes plenty of sense so far. are the 1.2/1.3/1.4 and 1.6 cam carriers all inter changeable?

yes, but you need to use a carb type cam so you have the pump lobe.

if you use a 1300 cam & carrier, a 1200 /1300 dizzy will fit it, and they are easier to get than a 1400 carb type dizzy.

Surely you mean the manifold is different...the carbs can be used, although will probably need re-jetting and setting up

What I meant.

Personally I would stick with the 1600 head, get a decent pair of webber 40s.

Facet redtop electric pump

Filter king regulator

Nova 1400sr electrics.

That's just me though.

i bought a set of dellorto 40s on a manifold with the cables etc as removed from a 1.6 gsi, so hoping they will be easy enough to set up and wont need re jetting.

while i rebuild the engine i need to look for correct distributor set up and a fuel pump set up.

any recommendations for a cam to use? and anything else i should consider with the engine in pieces? arps etc?

car is for fast road use really

is there not a fuel regulater that will change high presssure down to carb pressure? save changing the pump etc. :s
