Having problems wiring in an XE in a mates car.
Struggling to get it spark.
Power at both sides of the coil so I'm assuming it earths through the casing.
ECU is powered up by a black and yellow and 2 thick red wires, correct?
Green goes to rev counter obviously.
There's also a blue wire which is the fuel pump. I believe.
Then a blue wire with red trace which is temp gauge I believe.
Is there something I'm doing wrong. Tried a new coilpack. Maybe a crank sensor problem?
Any help would be appreciated.
Cheers,
Jamie
blue & red is usually fuel pump

Thats the fuel pump, theres a thinner type thats to be ignored
Is there something I'm doing wrong? Just a bit! lol. Tried a new coilpack. Maybe a crank sensor problem?

As above you need,
Thick red is the main power lead.
Black is ign live.
blue/red is fuel pump live.
These are all you need for it to run.
The rest,
Blue is the coolant wire
green is the rev counter
brown/yellow is the ecu light.
Damo.

The blue wire goes to the fuel pump relay.
The blue wire goes to the fuel pump relay.
It'll be a blue wire with a red trace mate.

Hasn't got a red trace in it.
There is a blue wire with red trace but that goes into the injector rail.
Will take pictures tomorrow, will make it easier to explain.

Sounds like what you've done may be right, with the black/yellow etc. That shouldn't affect it sparking anyway.

Does the ecu click or anything when switched on as I know it has got power to it?
Could it be a faulty crank sensor, Ill check for fuel tomorrow.
As above i was unaware that there were any wiring differances.
Is the fuel relay a good one as they can stop them sparking if there duff.

What car did the engine come from? You're right from memory that there is a thick blue going into the fuel pump but its the blu/red you want.
Whereabouts in the loom are you splicing in exactly? Sounds like you're doing it at the ecu?

No the splicing is at the other end of the loom near coilpack.
If you read the link that sounds correct as the wire that goes into the pump relay is definitely blue.
I will check the relay tomorrow.
If it gets 12v when cranking and stops as soon as you stop cranking it'll prove the relay is working and it's the right wire?

Will check that tomorrow.
Thanks for the advice guys.
