Du kno wot the guy ran before? I use shell in mine, not v.expensive. But my dad says to use fully synthetic. Depends how much it drinks, mine used to go through alot, hence the cheap oil cos it was to expensive. its alot btter these days tho, so will consider fully synthetic. think all the brands must be simliar really.

Last months Total Vauxhall had a big article in about oil. I reckon something like Halfords 10W40 mineral oil and change every 3 -5000 miles. Its good value so it wont cane your pocket to change more often

On the Oil tin your looking for two letters....

C? & S?, Look at the S? set of letters, The ? will run from A-J (I think) get as close as you can to J, or the highest letter they do these days. The better the Letter, the better properties of the oil.....

Or so I'm Told.

This was techie old car......yes

But, it's mine now  :D :D

I'll put whatever he put in it, i usually use fully synthetic oil though as it better for the cars engine.

how does the nova compare to the RS? :)

kev378kg

obviously, it's not as quick as the RS was 185bhp, but speed isn't everything. It alot more comfortable, well sort of!!! It's lowered 60 with a suspension kit which i want to change as it is too hard. Maybe swop the springs for -25 ones.

Fancied a change really. Had three RS Turbo now. Always worried about blowing the turbos up etc, have always fancied a GSI nova. I like the Silk violet ones the most, but there isn't any for sale at the mo, so i got the red one instead.

i use carlube 'tripe r' semi

they mostly come from the same refinaries anyway if you have a look on the back of two different branded oils and look at the standards they comply to (usually marked by letters) and the two are the same they are the same quality oil regardless of what any adverts say hence people recommending halfords and regular changing

cant remember how much the tetro... sorry carlube stuff was, seems ok though

i put fully synthetic shell ultra in my 1.2 i but it leaks with that in it but it would be o.k if the gaskets were newish and that but mine are old and pants i think you can get halford fully synthetic for a good price
