Exactly that.

These machines are designed for green lanes and for hare and hounds.

I do the later, but one day will go back up the lanes:thumb:

Bike has to be fully legal for green lanes, including road legal knobbly tyres:thumb:

I raced MX for a few years whilst at school/college.

Had a 1986 Honda CR80 (this was my first bike. Used to ride in the farmers fields, with permission!) The started racing on a 1993/4 IIRC Kawasaki KX 100 before moving up a class and a 1997 Yamaha YZ 125.

I then got into road bikes later on which ended rather quickly and painfully!!

Will post some pics later. On my phone at the mo.

Me on my YZ...1998.

nice KTM matt, it looks like its never been used! pictures with mud or GTFO lol

pic whoring? oh go on then... :p

I used to love a good bit of green laning when I was younger, with the odd forray onto an MX track too.
My first bike when i was 14 (i think) was a clapped out DT50
sold that after about 6 months and bought a DR125
then swapped that for an ond RM250,
http://i658.photobucket.com/albums/uu307/hay_lewis_68/bikes/RM250.jpg

It was a bit too tall and fast for me (i was 15) so sold it on, and bought a CR125.
http://i658.photobucket.com/albums/uu307/hay_lewis_68/bikes/CR2.jpg

http://i658.photobucket.com/albums/uu307/hay_lewis_68/bikes/CR.jpg

Then I was forced to sell it to buy a road bike when i was 16  that ended my off roading fun for ever tbh
ended up with a gayhat Derbi Senda

was slow as fook so sold it after about 3 weeks and got an RX50 instead, not too slow for a wee 50
http://i658.photobucket.com/albums/uu307/hay_lewis_68/bikes/DSC00176.jpg

had that for a year, then when i was 17 I got an NSR125, which was great
started off like this - very 90s
http://i658.photobucket.com/albums/uu307/hay_lewis_68/bikes/oldcoloursright.jpg

So Dan (bally77vaux) helped me paint it (read: did it all) ended up like this
http://i658.photobucket.com/albums/uu307/hay_lewis_68/bikes/DSC00441-1.jpg

stupidly sold that for an XLR250, which dan also painted from me, to remove all traces of the 90's
http://i658.photobucket.com/albums/uu307/hay_lewis_68/bikes/original.jpg
/\ before after \/
http://i658.photobucket.com/albums/uu307/hay_lewis_68/bikes/DSC00560-1.jpg

that kept munching CDI's and reg/recs so flogged it and got a TZR250 as a winter hack

sold that to pay for my first cars insurance, then several months later my nan gave me some money, so I bought this. A CR250, with an XR250 engine, bored and stroked to 380cc, race cam, high comp weisco, 40mm flat slide carb, ported and polished head, +2mm valves, race system, big fin head, huge oil coolers. trouble was it was technically a ringer (just had an XR logbook and numbers on the CR frame) so flogged it (to a copper lol )
http://i658.photobucket.com/albums/uu307/hay_lewis_68/bikes/right.jpg

Then bought this CBR400, which I love to bits, and is currently tucked up in bed in the garage over winter
http://i658.photobucket.com/albums/uu307/hay_lewis_68/bikes/DSC01222.jpg

sorry for the mega pic whore

love the 400 i seriously feel a vfr 400 nc30 coming on again this summer been wanting one for ages and with the price of fuel it make sense as a work hack if we have a summer

Lewis.
09-01-11, 09:16 PM
cheers, my mates just sold a VFR, they are worth having just for the sound alone lol i'm looking forwards to being able to use mine again too, 40mpg is far better than 20mpg in my landie :( doubt we'll have much of a summer though

started out with this tuned up rm80.
http://i1035.photobucket.com/albums/a438/grooge/rm80.jpg
went really really well.
bought it and taught myself how to ride it. my parents wouldnt allow me get a bike so i didnt tell them i was buying it and had to keep it at my mates house lol first few times riding it i didnt even realise the bike had a powerband higher up the rev range and when it hit the powerband for the first time i was hooked!!
i didnt have a clue about the 2stroke mixture so phoned up a local suzuki dealer who gave me the wrong ratio ( roughly half wat it was supposed to be) and ended up blowing it up. rebuilt it then sold it on over the winter.

then i bought a dt125 at the start of the following summer to replace it. really like that bike and kept it through the winter.
http://i1035.photobucket.com/albums/a438/grooge/dirtbike.jpg

by the start of spring this year i was wanting something witha bit more power so swapped the dt for a car with my mate who'd been keeping it at his for me and bought a kmx200.
still got it but put a hole in the crankcase at the end of the summer and havnt ridden it since. plan on fixing it and selling it then maybe get a cr125 or similar for the summer. might sit my test though and get something for the road but all depends on money.
will get a photo of it later

in scotland theres no such thing as green laning, nowhere to legally ride off road apart from tracks and private land :(
tempted to start riding on the road but cost puts me off, need to sit my test then buy the gear before i think about getting a bike.

You can' go down by-ways with fully road legal vehicles. Green laning to me is going down road legal roads which are dirt tracks/by ways/very fun roads that are very challenging and fun. with a fully road legal bike/ lights bells and whistles!

Mine has only got the Mallosi MHR race exhaust on it and it goes about 75-80...

I also saved up my money for a long time to buy it as it cost me nearly £2,500 new so there was no spare money to spend on extra bits except the exhaust. :(

It's based on a Range Rover chassis shortened to 80 inches and the original Range Rover 3.9 carbed engine. Rear diff has been welded up and fiddle brakes on the front. Currently in the process of adding to the cage: (The pictures should be the other way round lol)

classic off roading mod there... the front axle on a rangey has way more articulation than the rear, so fit a front set on the back... simples

lol

All de restricted, there's the first point.

All got uninsured and un road legal power pipes, and one was 70cc

Gotta be 49cm3, and able to do 29mph flat out.

No one ever sticks to this very very dangerous rule!

Buy the best you can is my advice.

No point touching anything older then 02.

Bits for jap motox bikes are a hideous price.

Get as new and as good as you can fella.

I had a dtr125 on the road for 12 months.

200 bore kits are very rare n expensive now (£250)

But a dtr, with the powervalve set up, and a set up carb.

Go for one of them, as they last for ever, as opposed to the 8 hours of a kx

yeah, ive found the dtr to be bombproof! i've got a mate whos a mechanic n he used to give me fuel out cars that came in with the wrong stuff in them , ie petrol in diesel and vice versa. ran it on all sorts of horrific petrol, diesel, oil, paraffin mixes n it always ran. clogged up once, drained the tank n fired in some super unleaded n away it went again lol indestructable.
