How fast are nova 2.0 16v's. I know there quick and that but instead of talking bhp etc, i mean what cars are they faster then?

Whats the biggest motor anyones done in one of these?

well as far as ive heard they do 0-60 in about 6.5/7 secs an top out at about 140, so i guess they will hammer alot of other sporty hatchbacks, an be able to chase imprezas/evos/M3's etc. in standard form, duno to much thought as i havent bin in one , or driven one...... yet :twisted:

A mate of mine's got a bmw 325i motorsport convertible, we were just chatting and he said that the 2.0 16v nova might be quicker then his from about 0 - 40mph but then the bmw power just takes over, i argued with him to no avail, whos right?

BMw's are very heavy, i dont know much about the difference in power in the models etc, but if its a standard sort of engine, ie 2litre, 1.8 or wotever then i think the nova would kick ass, M3's an M5's etc are a different matter

the nova would win. it would be of equal pace to the M3 in that same shape as the one you are on about, it wouldnt match the E36 (the shape after) but it would the one you are about. a 325 wouldnt be much of a prob. Until you get to a bend, then it will completely turn the bemmers way.

very true, i've been sitting in my mates beemer when he was racing and it nearly gave way around a corner, most people dunno how to drive em, trick is coast it round a corner then floor it as soon as its straight that way the back end doesnt fly out.

very interesting i think i'll have to race my mate's 325i motorsport and see what happens eh?

a scooby once couldnt get away from me in my valver-very amusing to think theres cost many thousands of $$$ and the nova cost a fraction of that for me to build.
it would kill fiesta RS turbos, escort RS turbos and i also beat an MR2-unsure if the turbo version, but still, the guy looked quite smug with his bird next to him till the nova went past :lol:
with me and 2 largeish friends in i had 135mph reading (private race track of course), but yuo've gotta compensate for potential speedo inaccuracy from that.
they are v fast though once they stop wheelspinning.
its now sold, building a 2ltr 16v turbo one to replace it.

if it is the XE engine and you use the same box as what is in like the calibra you must surely be able to get 140 outta it. my dad had 137 out of his (and tht is the book figure), u could prob downhill get 145 outta em in tht lump, lettalone a nova!!

good luck on the turbo phat sr. thats my next mission, anyway rob as you said, the red top engine you talking about?........as in my cav gsi, ive taken that of the clock and its kept up with vr6's bmw 328i's i mean i havent beaten them or anything but its kept up with them a few metres behind, so a red top engine into a nova damn thats gonna be fun.
i live in Luton Bedfordshire and most of the cars going around are bmw's and golfs, so thats gonna be fun, hopefully once my valvers finished it should be fun doing all these in races.

The MR2 definately wouldn't have been a turbo :lol:

My mate has a standard 250 bhp MR2 turbo and its quicker than my 2.0 16v turbo Nova so if a LET Nova can't beat one a valver defiantely won't.

is your let nova running any phase kit Lee? ive got the phase 1 chip to go in mine which will push out near 260bhp, surely thatd be a good match for the turbo mr2? the valver nova kept with the mr2 round a very tight roundabout, which i was impressed with as many people say the valver novas handle cr*p.

No, totally standard LET (except dump valve :D ) Should beat the MR2 turbo with the phase 1 kit but MR2 turbos are quick and put the power down a hell of a lot better than the Nova. When I raced him didn't stand a chance round corners either but the guy is a complete nutter behind the wheel and was sliding it slightly on corners.

wtf is your mate on about the nova would win 0-40 then the bmw comes in, it would be the other way round.

with my std 1.6 16v i raced a 525i conv (wasnt motorsport) off the lights, i cained him to 60 and was nearly 100mph b4 he managed to pull level, the 2l 16v would of killed it easily
