This may sound like a stupid question but is there really much difference between diesel and petrol oil?
say if you put diesel oil in a petrol engine would it do lots of damage? not that i have lol its just i have lots of diesel oil that need to get rid off

I dont think there is that much different in it apart from maybe some aditives, fuel specific oil isnt really used much now as most petrol and diesel engines will run on the same types of oil.

if its 10/40 semi then you could probably use it mate depending what your engine is

will be most likely be 5/40

tbh in most engines it wont matter, esp old vauxhall engines

I would say 5w30 would be a wee bit thin for a baby xe I have always used 10w40 semi synthetic in my c16xe and c20xe

I used to run diesel oil in the nova (tesco's 15w30) as it was the thickest cheapest stuff I could find. Recommended oil for a VAG tdi is 5w30, as said possibly a bit thin for an oldish vaux motor.
