Why the fcuk aren't a) the guys in the cockpits of the podracers burned to death from the jetwash of the engines and b) the cables holding them to the cockpit melted?

ah the star wars remake of ben hur...... 2 1/4 hrs of absolutely excruciating tedium, and a 5 minute chariot race......... every bit of it is truly crap....
