had the engine running today and noticed some engine oil dripping onto the floor. looks as if its coming from between the block and gearbox as i can see it dripping down the gearbox bearer onto the cradle. (engine is in a fiesta)

only thing i can think is crank shaft seal. what you think??

Sounds like the crack shaft oil seal.

um how easy is this to do?

dont realy want to take sump off as i onlhy put a new gasket and sealed that the other week.

With the box off you might be able to screw driver/hook tool the out one out and get a new one in there(sump still on) but i cant be 100% on that.

So there is just enough room some there's none.

Definently not the sump gasket?
Might be the join in the bearing cap too

join in the bearing cap??

i had this engine sat for about 5months when i baught it then got it in a corsa and the cam belt side crank seal had gone, now iv had it sat for 6months and looks like other side has gone. do they tend to do this if thayv been stood for a while??

Yeah, on the bearing cap at that end of the engine, it has a bit of sealent in the join on it to stop it leaking oil.
More likely to be the crank seal though.

And its quite a job to change that seal tbh.
